When I said playing flat notes, I was referring to Neil Young. Neil's guitar playing has made me cringe a few times
Here is a good one where Crosby's guitar and Chris Hillman on bass create a rich blend.

Stills was the best musician in that band, but to me, Crosby is the one who is still putting out art, his latest streak of albums have been great. Deja Vu has long been one of my favorite CS&N songs and Crosby's guitar is one of the reasons. I've jammed with Stills, he smoked! Here's A recent Deja Vu with a nice bass solo by Michael League.
It can be a bit pitchy at times because it's live, but the chances taken, and the harmony choices made, are on their own level. A glorious stripped down arrangement, too.
That whole live album from the Capitol theater is awesome. Most of it is material from his recent work with only a couple of older catalog pieces.
Fans of harmony vocals would really dig it, especially in these auto-tuned times.
Back in the 70's when Crosby would tour with just Nash they would use the Section as a band, they were not afraid to stretch out either. Crosby probably is a pain in the ass, but I always thought he was the most musically forward thinker in CS&N.
I think his vocal harmonies with the Byrds are really what gave the band its sound. And I also think they were the band that really moved music forward from 50s to the 60s.
.............I'll add, I think Crosby has Keith Richards beat in the nine lives department, plus, Richards never did hard time in a Texas prison.

Their styles are different but I was thinking about how they seemed to never play (or sing) anything unnecessary. They play in the moment.
David is on a season 4 episode 14 of Roseanne. His band plays at the bowling alley restaurant. The crowds are not too large.
Big CSN/CSNY fan. For me, Stills is number 1. Incredibly multi-talented guitarist, bassist, etc... Crosby was known for alternate tunings(simliar to Joni Mitchell) - very interesting sound(s). CSN's harmonies really tie it all together, for me.
