So, David isn't just the most tasteful guitarist on the planet, he also has a Rolodex full of musical friends. Kinda what you'd expect, but yeah....still pretty impressive.
Gilmour was at his best when he played with a certain bassist whose main bass was a black P bass with a black pickguard.
Damn, when Gilmore starts solo'ing........just incredible. I saw PF way back on the Animals tour, and even though I was probably 14 I still remember how amazing he was. The only other guitarist that has really struck me like that live was Jeff Beck on the Wired tour. Same thing. Total control of the instrument, but really communicating through it, not just muso stuff.
David Gilmore may be slightly underrated as a singer..
I recall as a teen when that album came out hearing that song all over the radio. I haven't heard that album in a long time though. That is a great performance.
Nice. David Gilmour is a tremendously underrated musician, IMHO. I've got a couple of Pink Floyd live DVDs ... "Pulse" and "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" and he just kills it on both. He's got great tone and is very lyrical.
Here's an even weirder one. The Orb and David Gilmour built this entire album out of Graham Nash's song "Chicago". Nash gets two songwriting credits because they used samples from that song.
