He would if GK sponsored it and gave him 3 stacks to use at every show.;)

It's a marketing deal, he's doing the same thing now with Acoustic.

I used to run a 15+410 stack too, just learned since then it's not the best way to go about it. Anyway, not looking to hijack this thing to argue about it. My post there may have come off a little brash.

No argument from me bro. I run the bi-amped, 410/118 rig, but I am gassing for an 8x10, believe me.

The 15 is the weak link in that configuration. If he thinks he needs the 15 because his 10's are lacking some depth, designing something around the basslite s2010 may be worth looking into. Should sound deep enough he won't miss the 15, the phasing issues will go away and his real world power handling will go up considerably. Could do 4x, 6x or 8x to meet the output needs. Could also graft a tweeter on top if he wants. Can put an Lpad on it and an on/off switch before the whole works so you could take it out of the circuit completely and run the 10's full range old style.

It also be that whatever peaks and valleys are created by the oddball driver compliment may just be pleasing to his ear or he's just used to hearing it. Until he gets used to the new sound, he may not think of it as an improvement. Changing drivers won't make the same phasing as his current ones.

Ya, in your case, your 18 likely can run deeper and move enough air to better match the 10's. And seeing as you're doing it the right way (biamping) yours won't have the phasing problems and peaks and valleys you get with different speakers competing to play the same frequencies.

Aside from the sound/tone stuff, the biggest drawback in the 15+410 stack is the 15 runs out of gas while the 10's still have more potential output to give. One cab has one voice coil absorbing 1/2 the amp power, the other has 4 voicecoils to absorb the same 1/2 power.

Turning your high range driver off can lead to damage to your crossover and subsequent damage to your amplifier.

Any two cabinets will sound different than one single cabinet. The best choice for a second cabinet is one identical to the first.

He may use three rigs but how many of them are actually live if any?? Why wouldn't he have three on stage?? You don't actually think that Geddy Lee plays through appliances do you?? It's all showmanship and for looks.

I like hearing people that don't even know what rig I am running, tell me that I am going to damage it, when I have been running it exactly the same way for like a decade and it all still functions exactly as it was intended to and will still shear your face off if you're too close.

I think Paul should go argue with the people that designed the rig and then sold it as a set, or maybe with some of the thousands of people that own them.

My rig may not be the best, but it does what it was designed to do and it sounds great and is ridiculously loud.

Hey, I'm listening. Tell me something that actually makes sense though. If my 18" is going to blow and I am damaging my amp and crossover, how is it that I dime the thing out for app. 8 hours a week and have for a decade and it all still works perfectly?

In case you missed it, I am using a Carvin RL1000/ RL410/RL118 rig, which was sold by them as a complete rig.

So, what is it that I am missing Paul?
