Since I built my faux Neox 212T cab ( My Genz Faital 212 DIY Build | TalkBass.comMy Genz Faital 212 DIY Build | TalkBass.com )last month, I've had no need of my Greenboy 15/6, 15 Sub stack. What I do need however, is a couple of small, light passive subs to use as bases for my mains speakers.
I was going to simply build another 15 Sub box and liberate the driver from the 15/6. It's about the right size and weight I'm looking for and sounds pretty good as a PA sub. trouble is , it's a little power hungry for the sh**ty power amp I have to drive 'em ( Behr**ger NU3000). So I was looking around for something a bit more efficient with around the same form factor and came across the Cubo 15:
It's a hybrid BR/ Tapped horn design and the recommended driver is the 3015lf. I reworked the plans to build it out of 12mm Aruca by adding some more bracing and it looks like I can get it down to about 50lbs. These subs btw are mainly for the kick drum as I'm doing fine for the rooms we play with my new 212 but a little xtra in the subs never hurts
...
Anywho, just wondered if anyone has come across these little guys out in the wild. I think it's mostly DJ guys building them but it looks like a fun build, so I'll probably try one unless someone knows they sound like poo. Any other suggestions for my 3015's in a similar size also welcome.
