There's a reason they did that. Noddy and Jim wrote all the songs and live very comfortably off royalties just from their Christmas song alone and retired from Slade in 92. Dave and Don wrote nothing and were broke so they kept it going. I don't blame them either...if I were broke but owned a marketable name like Slade, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Most people would. Easy to be a purist when you're not in that situation.

It's a shame they ended up broke. Everyone remembers noddy, but forgets Lea was so talented

For a 6-10 year old kid in 70s Europe such as myself there was this whole slew of English bands in a nomansland of Glam, Rock 'n Roll, and Teenybopper (like Slade, Mud, Rubettes, the Sweet) that reigned the Pop shows on tv and airwaves in general. Among this stiff competition, Slade had the best tunes (boy can they write a tune), rocked the hardest. If not posted yet:

"Hear Me Calling" is actually a cover, an early Ten Years After tune.
