Fender put out a Stu Hamm model that had both jazz pickups as well as the humbucker. But that was eons later in 1993.
Anyone know if Fender had released such a model previously?

They did not. They had a couple Tele models with mudbuckers in the neck position, but that's as close as it ever got.

I was thinking of modding one of my PJ basses like that. Shouldn't be too hard. Add a switch that could do P-PJ-J or all three.

They were a full band inasmuch as they were listed on the album credits as band members, but Fagen and Becker called the shots all the way down the line, set it up to be a core band with studio musician guests, and wrote all the songs by themselves. For example, Fagen and Becker didn't like the solos Skunk played on "Reelin' In The Years," and got Elliott Randall to do it. And I would bet dollars to donuts that the money split was not an even one. The other guys certainly didn't share in publishing, that's for sure.

Fun fact: Elliott Randall played that solo using an SVT and 810

Another fun fact, supposedly Elliott ripped that solo off in one take!
And then the next album Skunk absolutely kills it riffing on "My Old School"!

And lets please remember this discussion started describing "cringeworthy" videos from the olden days, and I was only trying to introduce another TBer to some SD personnel he apparently wasn't familiar with.

I have a parts jazz with a big cavity under the scratchplate and a spare P pickup.. I was thinking of going PJ with P series/parallel or JMM. I could go JPMM. I should probably reassemble my Strat and assemble the Les Paul kit first

For a 6-10 year old kid in 70s Europe such as myself there was this whole slew of English bands in a nomansland of Glam, Rock 'n Roll, and Teenybopper (like Slade, Mud, Rubettes, the Sweet) that reigned the Pop shows on tv and airwaves in general. Among this stiff competition, Slade had the best tunes (boy can they write a tune), rocked the hardest. If not posted yet:

A quick Wikipedia search showed that Noddy and Jim Lea haven't been in the band since 1992. Without the singer and the guy who wrote most of the songs, that is entering "CCR without John Fogerty" territory.

There's a reason they did that. Noddy and Jim wrote all the songs and live very comfortably off royalties just from their Christmas song alone and retired from Slade in 92. Dave and Don wrote nothing and were broke so they kept it going. I don't blame them either...if I were broke but owned a marketable name like Slade, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Most people would. Easy to be a purist when you're not in that situation.
