The GR2 mention had me nostalgic & one was posted on Reverb today so I had to bite. Excited to try it out again.
On a side note, what dirt do yall like to run into your filters? I've been on a kick stacking Doom into the Oxide... think its my favorite fuzz tone

I've been giving these old 90's bad boys a funk workout recently. I'd forgotten what great filters these old Q-Tron's are, very Mu-Tronesque in tone, maybe a little brighter sounding with a slightly wider range, but a lovely dirty quack.
For dirt, I do like a nice gated fuzz into a filter. The Chunk Brown Dog into the 00Funk Mk II is pure synth heaven, but I think most gated fuzzes pair pretty well with filters.
Away from dirt, I do like an OC-2 or Octave Divider into a filter to thicken the tone and add some synthiness, and I also really like the MXR M81 Bass Preamp, which is my secret sauce in front of a filter particularly on a passive bass. Varying the mids, treble, and how much input is feeding the filter IMO really gives you a wider variety of filtered tones.

The og Q-tron is a bad mother, I let mine go because of the size & power supply requirements but it did have a very unique & bouncy sound, haven't tried any of its successors.
The 00Funk & Brown Dog are an amazing pair. I had the set at one time but sold it & had some replicas made by JohnK but ended up letting those go to a friend... probably the best dynamic synth duo ever though
I dig the gain on the Joshwah but prefer it clean. Zvex Mastotron, Red Panda Bitmap V1, and MXR Sub Machine are my most used dirt + filter combos (Bitmap + Proton sound so good!). Been thru a ton as well. Malekko Diabolik was up there but hard to tame.
I recently A/B'ed the og chrome and the Q Tron+. They sound really, really close, to the point that I couldn't tell them apart in a blind test given similar settings. I do like the fast/slow response on the plus, so I let the og go.
I'm waiting to see what phunky fun the Future Impact will add to my menagerie of filters
The Q Tron+ is the "new" Q Tron. However, my Q Tron+ is an older one, I'm not sure if the new ones sound any different.
Am I the only filter lover who literally never uses a down sweep? All three filters I've owned have had a switch for it, but when I think filter, that's not it. Occasionally on the XD I'll use the expression pedal for some of that, but when people talk about, for example, the Joshwah not having a downsweep, I just don't see that as a meaningful knock.

I meant the new Nano Qtron. Does that sound the same as the og big Qtron?
Effects loop. The new sounds close enuff to the original. Easy to clip input on both units with active electronics. Many other EF pedals have higher headroom to prevent this.
The drive switch on the original changes the direction of the sweep up/down. I think the only difference + is the fx loop like you said
