I talked with Wilser of Ramirez Bass (Link Removed) this weekend. He's gonna start my build. Wilser is great, he has a wonderful combination willing to do anything and giving you his honest opinion on what he thinks will work for what you want. I am going for a vintagy look with some modern feel and features. I have a MM/J 6er maple/walnut/ebony Carvin that I love, and needed to add a different flavor to my "gig/studio" worthy basses.

Here's the specs:
-5 string fretted F model (the new version) Which kinda came out of some conversations that Wil and I were having here on TB and over email.
-wenge pickguard (3 layer wenge/maple/wenge)
-swamp ash body (no figured top)
-3 piece bolt on maple neck
-maple fingerboard with wenge binding and wenge block inlays
-zero fret and wenge nut
-Audere 3 band preamp w/active bypass and 3 position mid switch
-18v electronics
-Nordstrand BigSplits pickups
-Hipshot black hardware
-brass A style bridge
-clover leaf ultralite tuners
-maple headplate veneer
-Rb logo in abalone
-19mm (3/4") spacing at the bridge
-16" fingerboard radius

I started my own thread to track progress.

I'll join in the fun here, too...

Specs:
  • Skjold Pro Deluxe 5 string.
  • "Offset '92" body style
  • swamp ash body core
  • spalted quilted maple top, w/matching headstock and heel lamination.
  • 3-piece maple neck
  • macassar ebony fingerboard, 24 frets
  • Custom Skjold/East preamp: vol, blend, treble, bass (boost only), sweep mids, bright switch, active/passive, vintage tone.
  • Custom Skjold SC-1 pickups
  • Custom Skjold/Hipshot bridge
  • 35" scale

Hopefully, early fall. :)

Preliminaries are also that it should be very very light. Definitely under 8 pounds and likely closer to 7!

Yours is looking great too! ...........I should show the shortscale since you helped with a small, but very significant design element on it! I'm sure it would have balanced how it was, but now it balances perfect........Thanks!

The short scale is waiting on a new bridge, I forgot that in the beginning I ordered a schaller bridge, and my son ended up wanting a flat board ......since the schaller bridge is radiused I can't use it.

Here's my boy helping with the final neck sanding.

The Bart Bucker is in now too, I'll take more pics when it's done...The wait is awful whether it another builder making it, or if you're doing it yourself.........

This is with the first coat of finish.........it now shines!

Low end...fellow Tber JSPguitars makes these. His name is Jeff and I believe this is just his 5th or 6th build. I own his first build and he's also making me a 5 string fretless.

He does AMAZING work. I can not wait to play this thing.

Yes it is flat. I had him play my 5 string with a flat board, and a couple of my others with Radiused boards and he wanted flat.......He's help through the whole build. It's going to be a very cool bass. Comin in right around 7lbs too.

You’re being generous with the credit.
Both your designs were exceptional without any input.
I especially like how your upper horns brings the strap close to the neck and up to fret 12.
Excellent ergonomics for the right hand/wrist while standing.
An-n-nd it still fits with the nice flow of the curves- - -

Good stuff.
