just got this from the Mike and Bill at the Conklin shop...

That is just unreal!

Well I've got myself a fingerboard now. Alan found me a piece that I couldn't resist. He had a stunning piece of acrylic impregnated spalted maple. I can't wait to see this bass start coming together. He got the amboyna burl veneer topwood in as well.

Here's a shot of the the front with the fretboard.

So excited :hyper:

Shot of the front and back top wood wet down.

edit: did a quick photoshop job to bring out more of the color and contrast of the fretboard picture.

Some of the materials Alan's getting his hands on are just wild :hyper: Those woods are going to look so great on the finished instrument :bassist:

Indeed. Dat's me. It's neat to finally see your bass and my bass coming together.

Just slightly worried that I'll like playing 6 so much that I'll need to order a 7, then an 8, then a 9......perhaps I should start working on getting endorsements AND picking up more overtime, eh?

I wouldn't worry about the numbers. the big thing is that you're playing and inspired. we all meander in terms of what we like as players.

case in point, am now playing 5 a ton. I have 2 of the best sounding basses I've ever owned and I am just enamored.

of course, everyone knows what a basket case I'm going to be once I get that 10 into my hands...

:p :rollno: :D :scowl:

I'm not worried about the numbers. I'm worried about the potential addiction and GAS! :D

I'm back in!

Just placed my order for a custom built Bacchus 70's style Jazz in Ash/Maple with all the goods (70's spacing, MOP blocks/binding, Passive). Will be Black (Nitro) with Black Pearloid pickguard, just like the picture below but in 4 strings and not a Sadowsky!

Build time is 4 months. Needless to say I'm going to be like this everyday until then! --> :hyper::hyper::hyper:
