Here are the latest progress shots of two of the three Skjold basses I have in Pete's current batch.

This is my custom 'P-bass', which Pete calls the Lion's Pride, Model B:

And here is my Lion's Pride Model A:

Obviously, still early in the build. The necks have not been shaped (no, Pete did not switch to a 'square-shaped' neck! :p), and of course, there is no finish. I am getting pretty excited, though! :hyper:

My third Skjold in the works is a 10-string (five octaved pairs), and it will likely be one of the last basses completed in this current mega-batch of Skjolds.

Tom.

Not to step on any toes, but I believe that's figured Red Wood.

Yup, that is some redwood with some killer flaming/figuring. Here are a couple more shots:

And the back, in case anyone likes a nice piece of ash (I know that joke is old as dirt, but I still like it :p):

lokin' nice tom, very nice.

Pete has some awesome redwood Stew :) I will show ya mine when its done, also redwood of similar style. Im keeping it unseen until its complete though, just for kicks. Or if ya PM me, I can shoot ya over a pic to give you an idea...but only for you man hehe.

as much as I 'd like to see it, I'll wait with everyone else. I love seeing Pete's basses when they're completed!

on a topic vaguely related, I just heard from Bill Conklin and my 10 is almost done!!

Sweet Stew, look forward to seeing and hearing it :)

As for my Skjold, I thought it would be kinda fun, and a little ironic (since I take all the pics for everyone else) to not show my bass until it is done. I have been taking progress pics of it every step of the way, just like the others, but have been holding all the pics back until completion. I just thought it would be fun, and hopefully a little awe inspiring when its complete. Its getting quite a few bells and whistles, plus its one of the nicest tops Ive ever seen in my life. I picked the top and Pete didnt want to give it to me cause it was so nice. I also wanted a dark sounding bass, so went with mahogany body and wenge fingerboard, but all the details I left up to Pete.

Hey, Stew...I'm back in from the hinterlands...Chris Stambaugh is about to start on my new 10...November...

I await your postings of "done" shots of your new 10'er. Early on construction pics were a great tease, but I'm betting that the final show will be some really fine eye candy...soon to be followed by you making some ear candy with it, eh?

well, I don't know about ear candy but I started writing music specifically for that instrument. I want to record music with that bass and nothing else. at this point there are sketches for about 9 tunes but I have yet to finish the current album so it's almost putting the cart before the horse. or in my case, the ox.

:p

believe me, there will be updates soon!
