Custom Bass Wait Support Group Needed [Part 3]

I'd rather not stir the waters. There have been a series of unfortunate events with him. The bass was finally assembled within the last 45 days and I hope to have it before the NAMM Show. Hopefully without another event. However, he has been incognito for the last 2 weeks... It will be very tasty when finished. We'll see.

Update on my ACG. Body sanded down and control cavity routing done.

Alan also said:

The neck is going to be profiled tomorrow and the fingerboard sanded to the correct depth and with a bit of luck slotted and glued on.

Johans You have an instant classic there!

I'm still on board though (the Ramirez fretless 7).

I can tell you from personal experience :ninja: :hiding: ;) Alan builds an incredible instrument!!! :)

Well, that above quote was a hint, lame though it may have been. :hmm: But, the truth is, I have been working with Alan on a bass for a long time. This bass was originally ordered with the idea that it would be a review item (for one magazine, or another :ninja:), and furthermore, we decided to track the whole process of ordering a custom instrument. This review will be published in March, but I wanted to at least give a shout-out to Alan and show off this baby a little bit:

Here are a few shots in some more controlled lighting:

The body shape is an amalgamation of some of Alan's designs (yeah, I can be difficult!:smug:), and the body is a spanish cedar core, with this crazy figured okoume top and back. The neck is made from flamed sycamore and macassar ebony. The fingerboard is flamed/spalted (acrylicized) maple. The pickups are custom ACG (made by Aaron Armstrong), and the preamp is a custom, filter-based pre made for ACG by John East. The switches control series/single/parallel coil tapping on each pickup.

I don't want to gush too much now, but let me say that I am very happy with this instrument!

Tom.
