All that is left is pickup, bridge and control routes, then finish and assembly!

Well, New Bass Week did not fail to deliver! I received both my new Dingwall Z3 and my Tom Clement 4-string fretless this week! I was able to play them both at practice last night, and believe me, they play and sound as good as they look! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Here are the "official" shots:

The burst finish on the Z3 wasn't as dark as it seemed to be in some of the photos Sheldon took, and it really let the grain show through nicely.

Like the blue Z3 I reviewed, this bass has a dual-density swamp as body.

Man, that zirocote board is sweet! By sheer coincidence, both of these basses have zirocote boards, and they are my first basses with that fingerboard wood.

Sheldon hooked me up with some nice matching zirocote knobs:

This Z3 is right up there with the best of the best that I own. It's an amazing instrument, and a treasure for years to come.

The Tom Clement fretless was inspired by the 5-string black limba fretless that Ed Friedland reviewed in issue #4, and it's an amazing instrument in its own right.

Here's a closer look at that zirocote board:

I love how the back is just as pretty as the front, if not more so!

Even the neck is made from black limba.

I feel truly blessed to be able to enjoy two such fine custom basses. Both Sheldon and Tom are fine craftsmen and a joy to work with!

Tom.

Hi Custom Bass Support Group Members,
I ordered my first custom bass 4 months ago from Rod at Regenerate Guitar Works. I've seen enough pics now where I feel the need for some support. Here's a quick rundown of specs and a few pics:
'51 P body with forearm and tummy contours
1 piece ash body clear finish
AAA Birdseye neck shaft
Brazilian RW fingerboard with epoxy finish
Nordstrand MM5.2 p'up
Passive controls wired like a G&L L1000
It's traditional looking (which I like of course) but Rod has added some nice custom touches and the materials are beautiful. The body is off to be finished this week. Bass should be done by the end of May or so. Rod's great to work with, great craftsman, and very knowledgeable. Pics:
