Thumper,

I was actually between black or white, but I guess I thought I might as well get some ash grain in there if I'm going to get an ash body. To me the whitewash is more attractive than straight natural ash, but that's JMHO.

I've heard the white limba/korina is somewhere between ash/alder tonally, so how can you go wrong there?

I don't have any experience with Benavente, just thought the LEJ seemed like a good deal. More features than a Metro. So if you don't mind, please tell me how much I will love it.
As Dr. Phil says "You made a choice, now make it right." LOL.

Hey Thumper,

I'm curious what you mean by reverse Lakland... Is there something about the PU config that I dunno about, or is it something about the style? Not taking umbrage or anything like that, just trying to figure out what you mean. :)

Congrats to all custom bass orderers...may your deposits be small and may your waits be short but fruitful!

Em,

I was looking for a good Miles quote and saw that one...I was like "this is it!" :hyper: I'm sure there's a good one about "white bit%!es" out there, but that might not be family friendly.

I had a good Ray Brown one I was trying to fit in there, but not enough room for both.

Anyway, thanks and back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Well, I heard today from Zon that my bass will be ready the end of next week, so I am thinking I may have it in two and a half weeks. Not bad, they said three months and it looks like it will be around three months.

The only cause for concern is that the only thing they need is the pickups. I am not have Barts put in so maybe they will not hold things up.

Wilbyman, I thought I heard the LowEnd Jazz would also offer an option for a MM or humbucker style pickup at the neck position instead of in the bridge position ala Lakland. As always ICBW.

The wait for a JAF custom bass it's been about about 10 months now, and so far I think I've been handling it quite well. The wait-anxiety attack had been reduced from once every couple weeks to once every couple months. :)

It's going to be a 4 string fretless Eidas, with Goncalo Alves top and mahagony body, maple+pupleheart neck, Ebony fretbord, Bartonlini X series pickups, RMC's individual bridges with piezo saddles, along with RMC's active control board and passive wiring for the Barts.

Also waiting for a Ibanez Musician MC-824, hopefully it'll be here within the next couple days so I can get some much needed temporary mental relief. :smug:

I am Hallgeir, and my custom bass is basically completed... but it is home in Norway and I am in South Africa. And I can't get it before I get home in the end of September.

I just found out that while my Conklin 10 is completed, there isn't a case big enough to hold it, so the guys can't ship the bass until a case is made for it!

:bawl: :rollno: :scowl:

from the bummin' lows,

Stew
Maybe they can cut it in half, and ship it to you in two 5 string cases???
(sorry.. that was lame!)

Very nice.

Update on my Valenti.

Yeah, could be shipped any day now but of course mother nature wants to delay it a bit so she's tossing a hurricane at me.

Im going to ask Nino to hold off on sending it untill I give the thumbs up just in case the shipping company cant get it to me and end up keeping or losing it in their warehouses or in case it gets delivered and some looters take it.

Thanks for the reply...I got unsubscribed to this somehow.

I'm sure that Brian/Chris would do a wide (humbucker) in the neck position and a jazz in the bridge....I've just got two slim jazz pu's in mine.

The good news is that mine somehow got bumped to the front of the list (Chris wanted to do the 5's first and had an ash body already done) so I'll only have about 3 more weeks instead of four months? How lucky am I? :p

I finally got news on my customized '51 PJ Benavente (white limba body). A coupla' weeks out (he's working on another in conjunction with it, I wonder who's waiting for that one). Now I'm getting excited. When it was months out I could forget about it, now that it's close I WANT IT! I just hope it gets here before I go to London for 2 weeks, my luck it'll get here the day after I leave.

I'd hate to order a new Benie or Nordie, I'm not that patient.
Is this yours?? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Biker4him, I would bet $ thats mine, thanks for the heads-up, I didn't even know a photo was available. The reason I think it's mine is because: mine'll be white limba body with black pickguard and full pre-amp, and the neck PUP routing looks like it'll take my custom Aero PUP! My turn to start getting excited. :hyper:

BTW, does that look like a forearm contour?
