What do you guys think about leaving the neck through showing through the body of my custom build (staining it the same color as the veneer will be - probably red or blue) or placing the veneer over it? I'm also thinking of not staining it and just oiling it, leaving it more or less "as is."

Obviously a personal thing, but for me, I want my top covering the hippy sandwich 100% of the time. I'm less picky about the back. I've just never liked that look of the wings being obviously different unless I'm playing, say, a Spector. Again, however, that's 100% a personal decision. All of my custom/boutique builds are if the highly figured (generally) dark wood coffee table variety (50% TB'rs just groaned...), so I don't want the neck composite (or a solid pick guard) covering up that beautiful, highly figured Cocobolo or Macassar Ebony.
