On the original question, I think of Frankenbasses as instruments that are made up of parts from mixed backgrounds, like a fender-style neck on a gibson-style body, or something like that. And, although it's certainly not a critical point, I'm coming down on the 'custom means custom-built to an individual's specs' side of things. It's more of a marketing term synonymous to 'deluxe' in most usages anyway.
I think parts bass is most accurate and plain-spoken. Frankenfender works too, in this case.
Also, some people need to be educated in TB etiquette. You don't attack someone's credibility here. You can think "armchair bassist" if you want, but there's just no point in saying it, and it makes you sound like a fool in these parts. You can also think "inflated egotistical SOB" but there's no point in saying that, either. You earn the rep you deserve around here, and it pays to be polite.
