LOL. The only reason they sell a regular bass for that much is because they make 5000 at a time. To change one thing would be someone has to pull it out and make it specific for you. The extra labor would bring up the price significantly.

I'd pay Ibanez CS prices for a 35" scale, 6-string ATK. That instrument is simply fantastic and, in my opinion, Ibanez makes the best production necks in the business.
1) I'm so dead serious
2) Ok, better thought, the CS pricing is formatted like a Warmouth build. They start pricing based on the wood and then it goes up based on the previously mentioned stuff.

Don't take this the wrong way, but unless you're willing to settle for a builder who specializes in custom stuff, this is about the ballpark for the big builders. No way would I ever pay that kind of moneywhen I can get something better for half the price. No, I'm not kidding that you can get something better for half the price or less.
You're talking about the Schecter quote, right? Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's much better for much less.
ANY of the "big" companies will charge you about that much, if they'll do it in the first place. They don't specialize in custom instruments, so they charge accordingly.
Right, but I'm not really in to boutique basses like that. They still look like Fender copies( most of them).
Listen Danni you have what I like to call "beginner custom envy" you just got your first bass played it for a few months know what you like, what you don't and what you want next. Soon you start thinking "I want mine to look different" or maybe "I'll just change this thing" then eventually your up to your neck in wants and find nobody has what your looking for. Then you want a custom instrument which is fine but, keep in mind custom instruments with brand names on the headstock will reflect to HIGH prices. So if your aren't willing to play ball and save for years like players do just do what the majority of us do customize it yourself.

When I was a kid, I wanted a Fender dream guitar. Fender wanted $8k for it. No clue what it would cost these days. Years later, I spec'd it out with a custom builder and it was less than 1/2 that.
The reason why company like Warmoth and Carvin can do stuff like this is because that is their entire business model for their instruments. Customizable from start to finish. That's how they were built and that's how they operate. For Ibanez, who uses a completely different, model based on mass production, a switch like would waste a significant amount of resources and money without any guarantee of success later on.

It just pains me cause we ALL at one point or another went looking for someone to build us the bass of our dreams for some it happened the rest are making due. I'm one of the latter and it stinks. That's why I guess I gave him false hope.
