I don't think so, but it would be much cheaper to just buy an SR500 and do those simple mods yourself.
I would put up that kind of money for a bass made to my specs. The SR premiums and prestiges are too close to the regular SR basses for me to spend that much more on them.
But like I said, all I want is more color options.
To close how, exactly? The entire SR series pretty much feels the same (a good thing) but tonally the Prestiges smash the models beneath them. If I ever did get an Ibanez it would be an SR Prestige.

If I had $5000 to spend on a bass....I'd buy 3 really nice $1500 basses!
In all serious, I agree with most people's opinion here. Ibanez's niche isn't $4000+ basses, but what they do they do well IMO. I currently own an SR705 that has been a workhorse for about 2 years now! Plays great, sounds great, only cost $600. Your bass is a tool, a $4000 hammer doesnt necessarily drive a nail better than a $10 hammer. Unless the handle breaks on the cheap one and you smash your thumb before the big gig!

I have no doubt they can build something very nice, but given that it's not their specialty, I'd just assume spend the $ with a builder who specializes in such a thing. The fact that they'd be cheaper is icing on the cake.
That's not what he said. He just wants more color options. If it was built to his specs (i.e. pickups, body wood combinations, neck/fretboard woods, pickups, electronics) he'd pay $2000+. I would too.

as well as my 9 other ibanez prestige and production models
. I personally don't like most of the new Prestige models either, they do look like cheaper models, but with nicer electronics.. Say a SR4005, which appears to be a glorified SR500 with nice electronics and 3X the price. The Prestige SR5000's and the Premiums are the only ones that look like they fit their price tag. p.s. I'm not writing IMO because I wrote it... obviously it's my opinion
I've had my GSR for almost two years. At some point I will upgrade to an SR500. I know Warmoth necks don't match SR bodies (at one point I wanted a new neck for my GSR). Ibanez doesn't have a custom shop, Warmoth doesn't have the SR body that I want and I doubt anyone else does.

Really? The tone is the cheapest thing to change. Regardless of what SR bass I get I plan on slapping some SGD pickups in there and ditching the preamp.

I'd like there to be more color options period. Not for custom basses, just more options in their standard line up.
If I was spending $2000+ I'd expect full custom.
My friend I feel for you I really do I take it your not a Fender guy. Well neither am I. I am however a realist. The sad fact is no matter how much I want a black 5 string ATK with a rosewood fretboard I'm stuck with a trifade 5 string ATK with a maple fretboard.
Do I still want a rosewood fretboard? Yeah. However am I really gonna pay $4,000+ for it? Hell no!!!!!!
Life is giving you piss you can drink it or throw it out and make lemonade. In time I grew to love the trifade finish of my ATK and the maple fretboard isn't so bright if you got nickle plated bluesteels on it and back off the treble.
So if you still want a SR500 get one.
I'm not a fan of mahogany bodies and pretty everything below prestige level has one.
The all maple and basswood bodied SR basses sound practically the same. Body wood makes so little difference to my ears that it's not even worth caring about, for me anyway.
