Disaster! Disaster at the 19th fret!
First time I screw the custom made neck on to the body (6 screws with bushings) I put the neck in place, and tighten the screws down. Then I turn the bass over, and one screw has pushed up the fret significantly and damaged the fretboard!
I back off the screw, and manage to pound back the fret and wood with a rubber mallet into close to the right place, but the damage is done.
Apparently, the neck builder, whose name I won't mention again, miscalculated on the length of the screws. I had shipped him the body to custom-fit the neck.
It's going to be playable, I think, if I don't attempt to take the action too low. But I'm not happy.
Oh well. it still looks good, and hopefully will be usable, Here are some more progress pictures:
