I would expect it also, but the initial "12 week build time" for the neck turned into a 1 1/2 year saga, and I hear the guy is no longer in the business.
The 2+ year adventure finally has a happy ending. The bass is fully assembled, and I took it to an excellent local tech (Stephen Johnson of "Masters By Johnson"). He did the final work on the electronics wiring, and also got the fret back in place. Now it's just a little barely noticable damage to the fretwood, but has no effect on playability.
Now that it's done - this thing is light as a feather, and really barks! The Bartolini pickups and preamp are great. The neck is thin and fast, and overall I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Oh yeah, he also put some washers on the neck screws to keep them at the proper depth, so no more neck damage.
Don't recall if I mentioned it before, but I used Stewart McDonald water-based lacquer (the kind they don't sell anymore)
Thank you Samantha! One of those happy accidents - when I first bought the unfinished body, I applied a stain to it. But it didn't take the stain well, and I decided to paint it a turquoise color, which then lead to the turquoise stone concept.
Saturday's inaugural gig of the Turquoise Stone Bass. Sound and video quality aren't the greatest, but can hear the bass pretty well.

Just gotta say that bass is georgeous.Love it. Great design from top to bottom. Now that she is finished you can sit back and enjoy. Thanks for sharing with us.
