Custom pedal housings?

I did an extensive search throughout all of TalkBass with those exact keywords and came up with almost nothing useful.

How do people go about obtaining special pedal housings? Do you make them yourself? Buy them? I remembered seeing someone with a pedal housing that had a maple leaf on it and I thought it was cool.

The basic boxes are available from any electronics-supply web store such as Mouser or Jameco; the most common brand is Hammond. Pre-drilled boxes are available from pedal-specialty shops like Invalid Link Removed (and others). The decoration is up to you. Whether it's a maple leaf, or a bear with a lasergun riding an armored shark, you have to create and apply the graphics yourself. Google "diy stompboxes" for instructions.

I highly recommend 4Site enclosures. As far as I know, you can only get them in the 1590B and 1590BB (hammond numbers) sizes. For reference, that's EHX Nano and XO respectively. They're cheaper than Hammond, and just as good. (better in some ways, not as good in others)

You can get them at Pedalpartsplus.com (best shop ever, BTW).

PPP also has pre-drilled enclosures, if that's what you want.

If you want custom sizes, that's going to cost you, I'm sure. I know it can be done-- Z.Vex does it. But Z.Vex also sells a ton of pedals, compared to the average boutique builder.

The Klon Centaur came in a custom enclosure. ... lol.

Sweet, thanks for the great replies! I've looked at all of the sites mentioned and I actually have a couple of great ideas. The reason I'm looking into this is because I'm ordering a TLC Compressor in a few weeks as a birthday gift for myself. Those stupid ports are on the top of the pedal, though, and that's a bit of a hassle, so I was just looking to fix a problem in my own ways.

A thread with info like this should be stickied in the Luthier's Corner or something like that. There's really no other thread in the forum that talks about this stuff to my knowledge.
