Whenever I bring up the concept of further customizing a bass (replacing pick-ups, bridge, even neck), my fellow bass-playing friends get all critical, saying there's no point. If you could just buy some other bass that does exactly what you want it to, why go to all the trouble?
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to prove a point or win an argument. I'm mostly curious, and I've been looking into it a little bit myself.
Why do you customize? What do you change? What are you looking for that you can't buy off the shelf? Open for discussion of any sort
Thanks!
