that cat is cool

I have a big flame tip siamese around here, somewhere.. When you live in the mountains, you either have a cat living with you, or a lot of other furry little creatures living with you

so Spaz stays...LOL

try TI flats. Do you have someone to do a string change and setup for you? (at a reasonable cost)

Actually, I did a pretty reasonable set-up job myself (with a little help from my TB friends, of course) after I got it back from GC with a bowed neck and these absurd strings. I'm leaving the current strings on until I take it back to GC to discuss the set up job that was done on it, hopefully tomorrow, and then it's getting something decent put on it. Thanks for the suggestion on the TI's...I was thinking about those. :p

jumping in at the end of a conversation just to say+1 on the TI's..that's what I have on that SRX, and it's cool knowing I probably won't have to change strings on it again for 8 years or so :

OK, got a pic...this is laying on my pool table. it was the best background I could think of, to really be able to see the detail

I found a guy in germany (via computer) who was making aluminum pickguards, so I had him make a custom one for a bass project. This is polished, but looks kind of dingy because of my fingerprints

BTW...This was done for a fender jazz bass that is painted tangerine candy pearl (headstock matches body)

Will you share that contact information? I <3 that.

Make sure you go sign up at www.bassstringsonline.com, then PM SLaPiNFuNK and let him know what e-mail address you used in your sign-up. Jason will hook you up with VIP status. TB members get a discount on their already awesome deals. Unless you're getting them given to you, Jason's the best string deal I've found out there. And, he carries TI's.

sure...I will have to do a little searching, but I do have it stored somewhere
The price wasn't too bad. He charged me something like $85, so it was about $100 by the time I had it in my hand. it took him a week to finish it, then shipping took a while longer... All in all, I got to specify exactly what I wanted, how thick I wanted the aluminum to be, and I got the assurance that I will not see another exactly like this one on anyone else's bass.

Just FYI... I may end up selling the bass. I used the warmoth slim jazz neck. it feels small in my hand, and it is the fender style 21 frets. I prefer a little larger 24 fret neck

Kewl. And....I've seen pics. A 4 x 6 looks like it would feel small in your hand.

If you don't wanna drop a lot of cash check out GHS Pressurewounds too. I don't like the feel of flats much personally and I like the sound of rounds. The GHS' are a nice compromise, they let you keep a little more of the aggressive rounds tone but mess up your fingerboard.

+1 to getting ahold of Jason at Bassstringsonline, cool dude and awesome prices on an even more awesome selection of strings.

And practice those setups!!! I used to take all my stuff to a specific friend of mine to get set up, he has his own tech business. Don't have to anymore, after some experimenting my set ups are better than his :smug: You'll save a whole pile of money!
