CWB 20: Babes and Barbarians

I will probably go with a passive/active preamp. I love the nordstrand preamp in my orange bass. Hands down my favorite of the ones I own.
If I go with a p body and split P style pickups, I would definitely consider the double wound P pups. Most of what I play will be rock, a little blues and some country (gotta put some of that in, because of the area)

Some if will be three piece gig stuff, so I need range. I also prefer a wireless setup. I do not like being tied to the amp, so I like a lot of range adjustment on the bass itself

yeah, my regular band (three piece plus female lead singer) does rock, blues and country and I'm finding the P does the job. The single tone knob gives a surprisingly wide range of sounds. I'm not using wireless yet but that's on the horizon. What do you use for the wireless?

Bought this bass from a fellow TB'er a few months ago. It plays and sounds nearly as sweet as the chicks pictured.
Chick with my Bass and Chick w/o my Bass.

I have a Shure PGX wireless, I got off craigslist. I love it


Thanks Drummer... I have a little confession about that color. It was left over paint from a custom motorcycle prooject...LOL... It is House of Kolor, Tangerine Kandy over a zenith gold basecoat, with a little pearl added and PPG Prismatic flakes...

Lee, DiMarzio P neck and J bridge bass pups.

Or forget about building it, go find the old Ibanez Roadster from the 80's, passive active, P/J, MIJ. These basses are great and get no love from the Fender and boutique guys. Thus, still cheap to buy. The Japanese quality (they had the Fender MIJ contract iirc back then) is superb.

I went to the the NE gtg and one of the guys spotted my $400 used warrior with the battle scars and insisted on trying it out. Cheapest bass in the place I swear, he loved it, and I admit, it kills. It has 2 settings. Stun. Destroy.

I thought I had a better pic of it, guess it's on the work computer so this one will have to do.

PS, that's how I deal with the cold. Waffle shirt under my Station Nightclub Fire Memorial T Shirt. Not constricting, and my skinny arms are warm. I've lost about 20 lbs, now down to around 210 from 230, but I have a very slight build and small hands, feet, (9)
and bones.

I always usually feel warm but this year my hands feel cold all the time. My wife says I always had unusually warm hands, but i guess no longer.

Thanks man!

I used to be my wife's heater and 40 degree weather didn't phase me a bit. Not the case any more.

Hear you loud ( and low and proud) and clear, bro. Rather than get too general, I will work one song with you from the first set, Wish You were here, and see if I can smite you with some ideas.

Ultimately, for me, music is about the ideas you have and how to express them. If I can give you some sense of that and how to express that, then I will have done another good thing in my life. I also think MB, a way better bassist than me, could throw down too. :)

There aren't many songs from the first set that went smoothly..that song is one of em. I'd be interested in your ideas.

Music, for me, is about emotional expression, as well as expressing your ideas (more emotional than ideological for me).

Hey everyone, just checking in. Nice to see everyone is still doing well.

I have not been checking in much, the last month of my life has been probably one of the most challenging that I could ever imagine, and has been a living nightmare.

In any case, on a lighter note, I've decided that I need to move over to a good quality 5 string, but wanted something "traditional", if there is such a thing. And I am a big Carvin fan, so tonight I'm meeting fellow TB'er Basswave and taking this little smoker off his hands;

I did. Thank you. Really, from the bottom of my heart.

On the plus side, she is doing better, the problem was identified and is being treated successfully.

He is back home now, lots of challenges there with getting him back on track, and of course there is the level of nervousness that comes with not being able to sleep with one eye open.

I am at my desk at work and the phones are not ringing.....yet, so I figured I'd pop in and say hello to everyone.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Been a little busy, daughter's b-day, in-laws in town, lots of family and kids, left me not much time for much else. Band found a new singer, she's awesome!

FM, you and I together are dangerous for sure, but in a really good way. :)
Tat, I'll be keeping an eye on fb and cell for updates.
Chuck - I'm honored, and I expect video once the song is learned.
MB and DT - saw that you posted videos, will have a listen when I have a little time to get out the headphones and listen carefully.
