Man, this thread moves quick :ninja:

love your basses, Ed, especially the Barkers. I would really like to get me one of those.

The 8-string fretless kind of freaks me out a little, though. I can't imagine playing that. How is it tuned?

As a good DB player, you'd really appreciate the Barker basses, Chuck. True hard core DB guys don't like the shorter scale EB neck, but for someone like you that plays both slab and upright the Barker is a cool tool to have ...

I have that 6 string set up really well for my purposes, using LaBella tapes and a ToneStyler ... really, really close to an actual electrified DB tone now. We recently completed the first series of tunes for an upcoming release, just got the mastered tracks back about a week or so ago and the bass tone is great!

The 8 is currently tuned F#-F for a specific project, but I generally have it B-Bb. I rarely gig with it, not much need for an 8 string slab at standard jazz dates ;)

I was going to ask a pointed question about paddleball racket vs snowshovel vs 8 string slab, but that would be breaking a rule and I would have to infract myself, and I don't want to do that because it just sounds so weird. :smug:

Chuck, I thought about your tuning question for a while and concluded he tunes it with his fingers.

I have to share this to make my friends laugh.

We live in a suburb of Pittsburgh called Dormont. One of the things that attracted us to Dormont is that so many things are within walking distance. I regularly walk to the bank, post office, drug store, coffee shop, etc.

Yesterday I went to the bank, afterwards I walked home as usual. This morning I went to get into my car to go to physical therapy and it wasn't there...

It was cold when I went to the bank yesterday, so I drove. I walked home and left the car there.

Walking home I had to zip up my leather jacket as I was pretty cold. I thought to myself, I wasn't this cold on the way down here...

(Because I was in the freaking car!)

Haha Mike.

Great story Mike! Wanted to also say that I am sorry that you are still fighting that shoulder. Hoping that it will make some big strides for you soon.

Back in 21 there were a few I wanted to reply but time is short and so is my memory....

Tat, that new bass is 100% Gorgeous! That was one of them.

Also sad to say I am presently in Tat's hometown and or reasons we all know she is not here. Sad we don't get a chance to visit but fully understand the situation. Thinking of you too M'dear!
