Hey, my first ever bass was a Jolana! And had those same pickups (not guitar ones, but pretty unimpressive sounding nevertheless). It was not as ugly as this one (mine was a Telecaster shape). While it was an overall bad bass, it did have a couple of nice features that I am surprised not to see anywhere else. Eg. the front strap pin was actually screwed into the horn and inside it was a small screwdriver that you could use to fix/adjust whatever you needed - intonation, action, pickup height. The bride, as badly made as it was, was a nice idea, along the lines of what Warwick does - two parts, tweakable.
