Double Bass D/B Amps / Cabs

My interest is mainly Jazz.

a) Is the GK150S combo a good amp for the D/B?
b) Would two seperates give a better D/B sound than a combo?
c) What makes of amp. top are specifically designed for the D/B?
d) Are the smaller speakers of today as good as their bigger brothers of yesteryear?
e) What construction (Wood?) of a cab. is the best for the D/B?

The GK MBS is a great little amp for Double Bass. There Most amplifier companies design their product so they can be sold in both the DB and EB camps as it just makes good business sense. Euphonic Audio has the two channel amp the Doubler that's got a feature set so you can use for both instruments with one head. Genz Benz builds beautiful little combo amps that sound terrific with either instrument. So do many other companies. New speaker technology has advanced the sound and size of bass speaker cabinets to where IME, IMHO they are far superior to the old 15" in a box cabinets. Lighter weight cabinet materials and lighter weight woods and composite materials make the load in and out faster and easier.
