D'addario Flex Steels substitution

Eeee... I remember differently. FlexSteels aren't midscooped and more flexible than Pro Steels within the same gauge.

It could well be the case, it's been a while since I had the Flex Steels on my bass. The closest to them I've tried since are the Pro Steels. Probably less flexible but still quite flexible imho - more flexible than most, I'd say - and also kinda scooped, methinks.

D'Addario Pro Steels sound and feel pretty much like Flex Steels, as far as I can remember.

NOPE. Not even close. Although Pro Steels are a great steel string(one of the best), like almost all steels, they are hollow sounding.
You either get it or you don't. Flex Steels have more mids and are more Flexible( but not too much). Also, the highs are sweeter/less clanky than Pro Steels. The notes/inflection/dynamics jump out with Flex Steels. Like I said, this is for the people of whom were Flex Steel nuts. The SIT Foundations are the closest, bar none. It's a pleasant surprise.
