Recycle My Strings | D'Addario String Recycling Program
I was just posting this in another thread, but think it's worth a mention to get the word out about this program.
If there's not a collection center near you, D'Addario will give you a shipping label to print out & you can ship (2 lbs. minimum) strings to them to be recycled & then you get bonus points to your Players Circle account.
What good are player's circle points?
You can use them to redeem items from the D'Addario store.
or you can also donate recycling points to cash ($1/4oz) to the D'Addario Foundation
The foundation does things like give grants to students for Musical Education!
You get 100 points for every 1/4 lb. (4 oz.), so that's 800 points for the minimum shipment.
I was just checking out the cost of strings with points & their XLs are 3,200 points.
They do give you 500 bonus points just for signing up & completing you profile.
The only thing is their profile questions are for guitar players, and there is no Bass category for choosing which sort of strings you use.
BTW, I've already weighed some strings & I think it would take about 8 sets to reach 2 lbs..
D'Addario themselves indicated 10 sets, in their FAQ.
AFAIK you also get points for registering D'Addario/Planet Waves products that you've purchased.
I sort of wish I'd registered all those products I've bought in the past!
