Daion Washburn Matsumoku HELP!!

You have a very surprising PM coming Dluxe, the OP also! Gotta do errands, have dinner and then get to you guys tonight. From this mass of info I'll try to streamline it in next couple days and put it in order and come back here and post it for all.
Sweet looking bass! Now Weston, have you read along this full thread? Is your bass a Matsumoku? Were you aware of any of this other crazyness? When did you pick up your bass? Being that you work at a Guitar Center, you should pretty much get dibbs on a whole lot of trade in stuff.
Hey weston417------I said hey over on another post about your gorgeous bass. I see here you think its also an SB-40EQ. Its not, its indeed a Force 40. The SB-40EQ was an SB in its 2nd yr of production and the truss rod cover SAYS SB-40EQ. Also the SB-40EQ maintained the Wing-series headstock 2x2. The Force 40, keeping the SB-40 electronics, evolved outta the SB series thru the (and almost brother of) the B-40 which itself has several variants: B-40, B-40EQ, B-40EQW and B-40 EQW TS (used by bassist Danny Clausman in the band Van Zant --formed by the 2 brothers of Ronnie Van Zant from Lynyrd Skynyrd after Ronnie's death).

Yes mine is matsumoku. The original bass in this thread is definitely different than alot of the others I've seen. The headstock is the biggest mystery to me. Very odd indeed.

I posted pics of my bass in two different threads, but I'd do it again! Lol What's confusing is the dual humbuckers. The only other one I've seen is the Black on Black w/re. d binding and they're called Chicago series... Hopefully will be my next purchaseI know this guy selling it, Gary, and really, he had no idea about this thread. Here's the picture of his proto Vulture I on eBay and here is a real Vulture II which just a Vulture with 2 pups (lots of folks think the 40 series of basses are Vulture IIs). Both came outta the Scavenger bass---get it?..Scavenger-----Vulture.
Washburn history and models are crazy as the official proto-types by Daion also made it to market with the Washburn authorized headstock. It all gets very confusing very fast. I am on a serious hunt to rebuild the tossed out history from this period---very difficult. Whew.

The one on E-bay has very different tuners (More the Washburn) than mine. On my Daion, the tuners are longer and the Elephant Ears are flat. The one on Ebay the stems are shorter and the ears are curvy! I think Gary is the guy who actually brought this all to my attention in the first place and brought all this out!
Heya weston417............. What does it say on the pickups, whats the serial number and year of the bass? Having the humbuckers IS quite a thing also.

oh, no sweat, but I'll still not rest in total peace though until I get the headstock pictures from Germany for final absolute confirmation. Oh, one question, where and how in the world did you get your hands on that proto Daion beauty??

I personally think your offer is quite fair. Haha!! Anyway, I was shopping on either the Music Go Round or Guitar Center (I think MGR) and there it was. Listed as a Washburn Vulture II. I was sure it was more like a SB-40 due to the placement of the p'ups. I really had no idea! Thinking back 30+ years, I wonder if I can find any picks of the first one I owned. It was almost exactly like my Daion in the original post, but has Washburn on the headstock. That one I bought for $200 in 1983. My current one in the OP I bought 2 years ago for $300, but it has a poor neck break repair that my luthier is going to fix properly.
Years ago I had bought another 1981 Washburn like the one I posted on page 2. Unfortunately the bass had a broken truss rod so I ended up parting her out! I sold the carcass body to a fellow in South Carolina and sold most of the other parts on Ebay. Here are some photo's of the parts:
