Dan Maines Clutch

Ultimate role player. Not hidden ever and never yelling look at me. He lets the song be the focus. Really the whole band is like that.

I try to let that mindset influence my writing.

I totally agree. Dan and Jean-Paul are an amazing rhythm section- they're never flashy unless the song calls for it, and the pocket they get into is just out of this world.

I especially love his playing on their self-titled album since the bass and drums really take charge, and the guitars and vocals are a bit more free-form.

Saw Clutch live last night in Athens, Greece.
Dan had a meaty, overdriven, crushing tone with his Ric!
By the end of the gig I caught a quick glimpse of the stage and (with a minor reserve) all I saw between the Ric and the two STV's was a.... boss tuner!:)
Perfection through simplicity
