Hi all: would love to join this club. Recently acquired a Dano Longhorn - was told it’s Korean reissue late 90s. Really loving playing it when I can pry it from my husband’s hands.

Curious to know how to date it exactly. Serial # on the receipt is 9090709, but not sure as I can’t find it on the bass. There is a “MIK” sticker where I thought the serial # should be. Colour is I would say a dark eggplant (doesn’t show well in my lame photos).

Yes it looks like the first run of reissues from the Shinko factory . They do not have serial numbers . Welcome , that is a lovely bass . Some say that first run of reissues are the best .

I've solved the intonation issues with my Longhorn. The saddle needed to go back further than possible as it was. The screw is no longer holding the saddle to the bridge-plate, but I don't think that will be an issue. The saddle was too high at the back, to be able to fit under the strings, so I've filed groves where the strings made an imprint, so it tapers down at the back. It was nearly perfect then, except the G was sharp, so I filed about 1.5 mm there (which looks much rougher in the photo) and it's spot on now too.

Definitely worth the effort and made a big difference.

This ^^^ is way from the past (2013) but I also addressed proper intonation on my Coral DB. I made a whole new bridge with inset brass saddles using spares that came with a Hipshot KA bridge. Intonation dialed.

I had always seen clips of people playing Longhorn basses , but never actually seen one in the flesh , so I was elated when that first batch of reissues appeared . And I bought one . To be honest it took me a while to get used to the short scale . It was to become my main bass .

I’m told it’s a Korean re-issue from 2002. They’re asking $600 CDN which is steep for me to lay out - but scared to go try it! (My current guitars are a Godin Session and an acoustic/ electric Taylor GS mini which I got as a gift ! But my primary instruments are bass and keys.

She's talking about the Danelectro Guitarlin, which is a guitar. It's been reissued, but they're not very common.

It was probably 20 years ago since I played a Longhorn guitar, but I thought it was pretty cool as much as I remember it. No way I'd pay $600 for one, though. I only bought my 09 Longhorn because Sam Ash cut the price in half because it sat in the store for a year. If I got a twangy guitar, I'd rather have a Tele, although the LH does have the Tele beat in the weight department

I’ve never played a Longhorn guitar but I had a 2000-ish Dano U2 guitar that I sold several years back. I deeply regret that move. It was a nice axe. Sounded great.
