That Silvertone Ampincase is gorgeous! I think many of those spent their entire lives in a closet. There are probably many more still out there! Many, barely played!

Thanks. It does have 'reasonable for it's age' cosmetic scuffs and dings. The back is scraped where it was put away with a metal strap under it - I was a bit peeved at that one. It's fully playable and intonation is spot on. The amp also still works, a slight hum but I hate to fix it since no mods or repairs have been done to it.

But, if anyone happens across the 1444 bass on the cheap, I can likely scrape up $100 ... yep, I'm dreaming *sigh*

I sold the Long Horn that I bought new in '68, 6 months ago. That was a pretty long stretch. More recently I bought an Ursa II Rosewood/Sunburst. This is the first time I have no longer gassed for the '64 Deluxe Jazz Bass that I sold in about '82. I really like the Ursa, and they are priced unbelievably!

Ok, time for me to share. Here's the story from 1968:

I think I was 15. This Hippie who was living in the Haight in San Francisco came through on his way to buy some Pot. He needed money and offered to sell me his bass that his girlfriend had painted a while back. I had some money, he needed Pot. So....

What do you think about it.

BTW your grandson is assume.... few years away for me. oldest is 23 and in school....

I like them both. The Dano doesn't sound like anything else I have. As light as my Hofner. Nice small neck, I'm not planning on doing any mods on it as of now.
The Starcaster is real nice. They did a good job on these. My first Fender in about 40 years. Heavier than I was expecting, but not too bad.

The boy is 11 months, be seeing him again at Xmas. Can't wait.

Should have joined here ages ago (Note my username!)
Too poor to post pictures (you have to have a paid membership) but I've got a '99ish MIK Bass six in Limo Black and just got a '63 reissue longscale, also in black.
I had a '99 longhorn (ALSO Black!) that I parted with to my immediate regret - of course it was in trade for the six so it wasn't ALL bad...
Oddly enough - I don't like Black guitars, but the Danelectro Gods seem to want me to have a black guitar (well, now two...).
Also, having now owned both Korean and Chinese, I have to say there IS a difference in quality, but it is slight - and the new, higher output pickups work well on a bass without losing the Danelectro sound.
So... can I have a number?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a '64 Danelectro Shorthorn. I cannot look at it physically but it looks really good in the pics I've seen. My first question is what problems could exist that may not be apparent in the pictures? Second, I asked the current owner if this bass had a neck adjustment or a truss rod in the neck and the reply was "yes". Is that true?
