Which is exactly why I haven't thrown my name into the mix, too.

Besides that, I don't think there's too many buyers out there for a 20mm spaced 5 string unlined fretless, or a 19mm spaced 6 string (although the latter might be an easier sell).

So, I'll patiently wait until the time comes when I'm ready to order again, for myself.;)

Danny - your bass has survived, baltimore didn't gobble it up! So we're going to leave it as you originally spec'd it.

One note - they don't have any cocobolo fretboard material in stock that has enough sapwood to do the mirrored inlay (the sapwood is all close to the edge at the 12th fret area). They've selected a really nice piece that has some sapwood at the edge, and they'll just inlay a solid piece of coco sapwood. I hope that's cool!!

And for everyone's benefit - this is the kind of thing that sometimes happens with a custom bass build. We're dealing with a limited supply of natural materials that come the way the come. Roscoe does their best to meet your design goals, but sometimes the piece of wood you might want just isn't available. Truth be told, Roscoe goes WAY more out of their way than most builders will to let you pick woods, etc. Ryan Gadow is really cool about that, too. Maybe Alembic and Fodera let you get this involved, but you're certainly paying for the priviledge at those prices.

That's cool! They could make the inlay out of construction paper, and somehow it would still be glorious!

I really like how they seem to be guided by the nature of their material when it comes to design decisions, which has led to some stunning basses emerging from their shop - they take some risks I've not seen elsewhere in terms of wood selection, and it has set them apart as unique.

Wait, it wasn't good enough for baltimore? Did you start a new one for them? Great - now I'll have to practice resisting this thing in March...
Good problem to have, though.

Toes intact!! Glad you liked the design enough to be interested, baltimore!

Seriously, if anyone falls for one of these basses, that's all the better! Greg's experiment is a huge amount of fun for all of us, I think.

When the time comes for me to get another bass, I'll either get the one that speaks to me at the moment I play it in the store, or order one through Greg customized exactly as I'd like (which will likely be a fretless similar in some ways to Gard's bass).
