Dark Glass Tone Capsule in Stingray

I know some of the new EBMM Stingrays come with the DG Tone Capsule but has anyone added one on their own to a SR5?. If so does it work better 9 volt or 18 volt?. I added a DGTC to a EBMM Stingray Classic 5 9 volt but I think it needs to be 18 volt. Any opinions are appreciated.

Why do you think it needs 18V? If there is any distorting, then yes 18V is the way to go. My EMG preamp needed 18V and it's a very easy mod considering you can make space for the second battery.

Hi brumebat,
The preamp sounds great flat or with low amp volume. But at stage volume with any boosting of the preamp is sounds very compressed, choked and looses clarity especially on the B string. Don’t have room for a second battery without routing an additional compartment. So I’m thinking of trying a 9 volt to 12 volt adapter I found on line to see if it makes a difference before routing.
