Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Hi @IvanBassist, I ordered my unit yesterday. However, I am wondering if this was a wise decision, since I am not sure if I need an additional MIDI device for switching presets. I plan to use Anagram in the Scene mode for different tones within song sections and then switch to the next preset for the next song.

How did you manage that? Thank you!
Pressing the middle and either left or right footswitch simultaneously changes to the next or previous preset

Thank you! BTW: As mentioned before, I love your YouTube channel and watch your content on a regular basis! Grüße aus München nach Hamburg!
Thanks for the support!

If anyone is in or near the area (Hamburg, Germany) and would like to test the unit before ordering, just let me know :)

As a Quad Cortex user seems that Anagram could do everything I use QC at the moment, but has smaller footprint and is cheaper. QC is very easy to use because of rotary switches and big display. Has anyone tried Anagram yet, how nice it is to use compared to QC?

Leo Gibson has uploaded a latency test. Numbers look good, but I'd take them with a (very large) grain of salt he also claims his measuring setup to have zero latency by itself, which is obviously not possible. Except if his audio interface is secretly a TARDIS and sends its output back in time.

There are contradicitng numbers in the comment section of his video. But even with a flawed measurement (possibly with worse reports than actually true) the numbers look perfectly fine so I wouldn't worry about that aspect too much.
However, the latency using the Pitch Shifter would vary depending on the frequency of the note being input, correct? Low E 41.2 Hz will track with more latency than open G string 98Hz. In this regard, latency testing is frequency dependent and should be done with this in mind SPECIFICALLY with respect to the pitch shifter for drop-tuning....or am I a meathead and missing something?

Is there a silence gap between switching presets, like with most modellers? Or is it gapless?
I’m currently traveling so I cannot check, but when switching between the same Bank (i.e Preset 1A, 1B, 1C) there was no gap if I remember correctly.

I dont remember how it was when switching between banks, though.

In practice I doubt it will actually work like this. The signal from a bass is not a sine wave. It is a complex array of frequencies including limited content below the fundamental and a lot of content above it. It’s not going to process the pitch shifting on a per-frequency basis like an FFT process which would seemingly spit out different frequencies at different times resulting in a phase mess. My assumption is that the processing time is uniform regardless of content supplied.

Yes, it was a backup, but only because I didn’t know how the pedal was going to react by being powered through 3 outlets of the Cioks DC7 instead of its dedicated power supply.

All went well though.
@IvanBassist, how did you connect just 3 outlets of the Cioks to the Anagram? I was looking into this as well but it seems that you have to connect equal current outlets to avoid problems (i.e. 2 x 660 mA + 2 x 660 mA)

OK. Makes sense. I'm just a curious guy, and my experiences with pitch shifting had me believing that down-shifting with, for example a 6 string guitar, didn't seem to suffer from nearly as much pitch tracking latency compared to that of bass low notes, attributing it to pitch detection calculations. I may be confusing this with synth bass, I dunno. Perhaps I'll have time to do my own pseudo-scientific measurements just to see what all I can find.

There’s a darkglass 6 band EQ block. It should help you shape everything you need as if you had the analog version of those pedals you mentioned :)
Sweet... I was hoping that might might be the case. Thanks for the reply!

last question - I have the DC7, what cables are necessary to power the Anagram? Is there a separate adapter so all three will connect to the power port on the Anagram? Mine will be here in May, was hoping to get the necessary cables/connectors ahead of time.

This is the Sol, but something like this only you'll use 3 outputs:

Also, check out the Crux

I also have the DC& and I'm considering the Crux. Connected to the 24V port, it beefs up the juice to 9V DC / 2700 mA or 12V DC /2000 mA

But... I really hope the Anagram will eliminate the need of other pedals and the DC7 (lol)
