Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

After looking at vids and reading the manual, I really like it! That said…when entering tuner mode, it does not appear to mute the pedal (via stomp button?) Seems odd, for an “all-in-one” floor unit…

Just looked at the Sweetwater video and there is a Mute button when in Tuner mode. Surely that would be configurable to auto mute when you turn on the tuner?

Gigged this setup during some fly-dates. Can recommend 😎

Ivan - I typically run the X7 into the B7k and then out to my preamp or head. WIll this get me close to that using the B3K and Microtubes X blocks? It looks like i should be able to accomplish something similar. Just curious what your opinion was on that.

I just checked with my SW rep (who asked his in-house Anagram product specialist)…the tuner is actually always on, and currently no ability to “stomp” mute the unit. Wonder if this can be solved via fw update?

There’s a darkglass 6 band EQ block. It should help you shape everything you need as if you had the analog version of those pedals you mentioned :)

If the images on the DG page are an indicator of everything in the effects blocks, there doesn't appear to be a dedicated wah. That said, the "Mo**erf**er" is a Moog MF-101, which does a pretty good 'wah' sound with an expression pedal. You can use an expression pedal with the anagram and apply it to any effect parameter. So that would get you there...
Thanks for the reply. That's a bit of a disappointment for me, and will probably keep from buying this unit, for now anyway. I guess I'll be sticking to my HX Effects, which has served me quite well.

If accurate, that would be a glaring oversight on Darkglass.
I have to imagine that could/will be addressed if people ask for it. Also, the worst case scenario would be having a block in the signal chain that is an EQ or something with master volume set to mute. Though, that would be a waste of a footswitch. I feel like a global mute function is pretty critical anyway - making it part of the tuner (or at least an option in tuner mode) makes sense.

ETA: If they somehow fail to address or offer this option, this unit would still be in the running for me with the addition of a kill switch or ST-300 mini after. Not ideal, but it's still a massive scaling down and a fail-safe for staying in tune if the Anagram would go down during a gig...

This was one of my first thoughts. Something made for bass, not guitar and bass. Yeah, at the moment it's a lot of DG sounds, which may or may not be your preference, but that will probably change as the product and user base gets developed.

I don't really use that many effects. Even the Stomp is overkill in that area for me. I have one preset with maybe 3 effects that I regularly use. That's not even close to what a Stomp can do, but it's all in one and fairly inexpensive so that's the way I went.

I tried a Darkglass product a while back - the Infinity - to be an all in one for me. I just didn't get it to sound how I wanted. DG always seem drive/distortion based. I didn't have much luck getting a sound I liked. I wanted to like it. Maybe this would be better, IDK. $1,200 is a lot of coin to leave an platform that is - even though dated - working for me right now.

I just watched the Nano Cortex update video and they actually say, with this update we’ve really focused on the bass side and made it a great all in one unit for bass players….. where they then show they’ve added 3 bass specific effects out of 50.

Granted some will work great on bass (compressors especially) but let’s not pretend we’re not the ugly step sister when it comes to new gear releases.

There are ways to predict pitch faster than at 1/2 wavelength. Read/saw something about that a while ago on the audio developer conference, will have to took it up again as I'm not that deep into that topic.

FWIW: you don't need to fiddle with all the recording and measuring latency with a ruler. There's a really handy tool for that.
LOL. Clearly I'm not that savvy about the tools available for this stuff. When it comes to recording these days, I'm an old school home punter.
That's a great tool. I may just get it to test some of my digital pedals.

Seems really neat and well thought out...but I'm pissed they've been developing ALL THIS while the e500 has gotten almost nothing in terms of updates.
There's been five more pages since this was posted so it may have been addressed but I agree here - the QC is also hobbled by a lot of features that were announced at launch still not being present, which I recognize at this point as being a recurring theme with Darkglass/Neural gear even if the two companies are no longer officially affiliated, which is something I should have more explicitly alluded to in my comparison of the two devices on page two.

I don't think the picture of the effects on the Darkglass website is all-inclusive. The reason is because I did notice, on one review you could see a Tone Hammer amp block and it is not in the picture of effects. Assume there are more.

Looks like we’re in luck!
....and there was much rejoicing :p

This is one aspect that Line 6 really gets right. Clear descriptions of the processing blocks including a citation or at least a suggestion of the device that inspired it or was licensed for it. I'd really like to see this from Darkglass. Many are obvious, but some could use clarification. Sublime versus Sublemon for instance.
