Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Is anyone able to tell me if my assumptions are right? Or am I missing a key point here?
I feel like I might be mixing up what midi expression is supposed to be able to achieve.

What I want to achieve is a very slow but simple ramping action triggered by hitting a known. A one shot LFO so to say.

You could definitely do that with the MCx units that can do midi CC waveforms. As someone else said, it’s just a matter of binding the parameters that you want impacted/controlled and setting it up to trigger the way you want.

You could probably verify the Anagram side easily with any DAW, where the DAW is performing the role of the MCx. Just create a MIDI track and draw in a wave form of controller values to an assigned CC, copy & paste that multiple times.
@AnthonyBe, I can confirm that this actually works :)
:bassist:"Geilomat!" as we say in german :hyper:

For now, I just tested my main purpose a slow low pass filter sweep. I put the filter frequency on binding knob 4 (midi cc 23), then I drew a line in the midi track. And that works very well and as expected. Not much to it, though. Gonna test some more when I have some time.

So far for new amp models they have released a Mark Bass and a SWR model, both of which already had cab sims available. I wonder if that means we will also be getting an Orange, Eden, or Bergantino sometime soon?

I do agree with other users that I would love to see more control over drive for some of these amp models. It's severely lacking for me personally.

Anyone try this vs the nancortex? Just curious which you prefer
Getting back to this today, I could write pages and pages of specific factors and comparisons but most of you know the capabilities of both these units so figure I’ll just note a few thoughts on both from my personal use.

I am satisfied using either of my pedalboards. They both give me what I need for the various shows I’m doing. I am giving the Anagram the edge in my opinion mainly for these three reasons:
-Quick and easy tweaking on the fly in a live situation (The Nano can also be tweaked on the fly as long as you are familiar with the specific knob and button assignments but deeper adjustments require the app)
-Ability to adjust and configure as needed without needing an app or internet (Nano needs the app and internet connection for full implementation)
-Ability to position each block wherever I choose (Nano has specific positions where certain blocks must reside)

There are a ton of additional reasons to use the Anagram, as well as the Nano. These things are purely subjective of course so it mostly depends on your needs and amount of configuring you need, whether at home, rehearsals or live.

Cost of course may be a factor for many so Nano at around $570 or Anagram at $1200
may be a deciding factor as well. Nano is a bit more compact which may fit someone’s existing pedalboard better. Last couple Nano updates have added quite a bit of effects and tweaks. Anagram has pushed out quite a few updates quickly over the past few months and seem to be listening to the wishes of many.

My six presets I use are somewhat basic and effects in both Anagram and Nano are not significantly all that different, at least for my needs.

You really can’t go wrong with either. The technology and capabilities have so increased over time that both would serve any bassist well. It kinda comes down to how much you’re willing to spend, how far you need to go in configuring and how easy you need to tweak on the fly. This all just scratches the surface so any specific questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Could anyone point me in the direction on the Anagram for a thumpy bass tone that's all low-end, like used in Englishman in New York or reggae?

Thanks!

As a reggae player myself, I've been struggling since I got this before summer to find a good reggae tone. Tried multiple basses, different amp/preamp blocks.. my metal band? No problem. Any rock band I play with? All good. Reggae- not so much.

Tweaking the Peggy block can get you close- but for me, its not exactly what I'm looking for.

Make a capture of your Mesa rig :)

hadn't thought of that. need to do some research on how to make that happen
In case you haven't seen, there is a good YouTube video from Darkglass to get you started.

If I make a preset public in the Darkglass suite that has captures in it will people that download automatically also have the capture or do they already need to have the same captures to get the preset to work?

@IvanBassist

Just chiming in to say it's awesome how quickly Darkglass is releasing updates!

Also, one feature request / suggestion: I'd love to see a model of the EBS Fafner amplifier added to the Anagram. Definitely more common / well known in Europe, but it's an absolutely legendary amp for hard rock and metal (and has been out of production since forever). It's the Swedish Dragon! And the Bright control combined with the high and low boost filters are pretty unique features, not to mention the clarity, definition, and overall tightness. Great for modern sounds. It's kindof an outside-the box pick but I think it could be a real winner!
