Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Just remember, ā€œthe squeaky wheel gets the grease!ā€ šŸ˜‰
sure, but when your talking about development/coding, you don't want to press it too hard and get a sub par result. They already said they are working on it, and I'm guessing true synth capability is not a trivial thing to build.

Yeah, but banging on about a feature when they have confirmed it is in development is kinda pointless, and can become just annoying.

They've already said that it will be ready, when it is ready. We're all keen for it. We are all impatient (well, most of us). But it is easy to do a bad or sub-standard synth block/effects device. The bar has been set (MXR Bass Synth, Panda Audio Future Impact v4, etc.) so Darkglass know that they have to at least meet that level of audio quality, tracking, etc. but ideally exceed it. I think it is fair to say that that is what most of us expect from Darkglass.

I think the majority will agree that when it comes to the Anagram, Darkglass have been very good at delivering what they say they are going to deliver, and not publicly committing to things until they are prepared to do so. That is about integrity, and building trust with their customers.

Your point about vendors saying a certain feature is coming and then it not materializing is valid (i.e. vaporware). Those of us (like yourself) who have been around a while have seen it enough times that we all learn, "buy something for what it can do today, not what they say it will do tomorrow".

Really?
After reading through most of the comments in this entire thread it appears there are several features that members are ā€œbangingā€ about, not just synth, yet you single me out. How convenient.
I was taught that if you can’t say something nice about someone, say nothing.

What about synth? 😳
I mentioned synth and expanded midi in brackets after my list of 4 bullet point items. Since they are already confirmed to be in development, there is no need to place them on a "wish list". Darkglass has very quickly executed on many user requests, and I expect the synth and midi to be no exception.

The caveat being, I think many people misunderstand how much more complicated an excellently tracking and flexible synth plugin is compared to adding another overdrive block, or even the Entropia and Ignissor plugins. It will take time for them to get it right; I don't want them to take the cake out of the oven before it is finished baking, as much as I am excited to taste it šŸ˜…

I wouldn't take his comment personally, I think at this point anyone asking for the synth is being met with a similar response from what I have seen on Facebook and Instagram. There are other features that have NOT been confirmed that the community is very interested in. I think the most efficient approach as a community is to focus our attention on raising features that have not already been confirmed. Due to the enthusiasm around the synth, I would guess that Darkglass is dedicating a significant amount of development resources to making it a reality.

The MXR bass synth took over a year of development to become a reality. I believe the Source Audio C4 took several years, as did the Future Impact.

Many folks are using the Anagram in combination with the MXR bass synth for now. The MXR has been quite popular so far. If you are interested in the Anagram and really need a synth solution in the meantime, I would recommend picking up the Anagram and the MXR now. Once the Anagram synth is ready, you could flip it for minimal loss, since it is still highly in demand and in limited supply. Just my 2 cents.

@warptheory Thanks for the tip, that is a really cool idea that I would not have thought of! I'm also excited by the potential that additional midi features could add. I would love to be able to use PCs to directly turn blocks off and on independently from quickpot or stomp bindings.

After the multiband compressor update, my wish list for more features is pretty short.
  • Adding selectable sweep direction to the envelope filters
  • Mesa Walkabout amp block (one of the more legendary modern bass amps)
  • LFO block
  • Tuner tracking to D0, then I can finally ditch my Strobostomp
(Expanded midi and Synth plugin of course are already announced)

Everything else that Darkglass does in addition to that will just be icing on the cake for me.
amen to a Mesa Walkabout amp block. I'd love to see that. I have been looking for either the Walkabout or WD800 (very Walkabout-like) and a Subway 1x15 cab IR. No luck so far, but I remain hopeful!

Thanks for the reply. I really had to ā€œbite my tongueā€ when I replied to the other member’s comments. šŸ™‚.
I understand everything you’ve said completely and agree. Since I’m not familiar with Darkglass’s history of following through I will attempt to be patient.

As far as the MXR Bass Synth is concerned, I’ve had one since mid July 2025 so I’m quite familiar with it.
While it’s good, based on the Anagram, I believe their synth will be better plus it eliminates another pedal which is huge plus.

I waited a while to update and redo my Anagram patches, but yesterday was the start of our busy gigging season so I spent a couple hours rebuilding my main two patches and using the multi-band compressor.

Such a difference! @IvanBassist thank you for the comprehensive video that was super useful and really made a difference.

I still haven’t found a good replacement for my Subway + DI but I’ll continue to hunt for a suitable replacement. Not sure if the Walkabout would be high on my list vs a good D800+ with similar controls.

The wish lists are crazy. Every week starts a discussion.
I love Darkglass, I love the Anagram, I idolize Ivan because hiring him was the best decision Darkglass could do.
But I get Neural QC Vibes. Update Update Update and then - nothing (except the MB Compressor).
The Phaser, Tremolo and a Vibro-thing... everyone asked for it and I dont“t read anything about it anymore, don“t even see User presets in the Suite.
The 8th Amp, yeah okay. Now more Amps with a B15? Oooookay. But how but regular bug fixes, Midi updates, HPF/LPf Blocks etc.

But the main question - why do my passive instruments sound so much better with the Drives and Distortions? :roflmao:

As I have mentioned many times, we are working on the synth, which takes a lot of refinement. The parameters have already been defined and now we "just" need to improve the overall response. This last part is probably what takes the most amount of work šŸ˜…

There's also a MIDI update coming.

Regarding amps, many people (including me) have addressed the lack of Gain controls on some of the amps to be able push them, so we are also addressing that :)

Thanks again for an awesome device.
Can we also have global EQ profiles, similar to how it’s done for inputs?

I'll also put my wish list again, and I know that you already work on most of these items:
  • Why don’t the amplifiers have a gain knob? šŸ¤”
  • Wireless MIDI
  • A fully functional desktop app
  • A synth block
  • A marketplace (I’d like to have a few guitar amp modelers)
  • A wider range for volume adjustments in the mixer
  • Global EQ profiles, similar to how it’s done for inputs

On the subject of wish lists, I’d like to see some space saving ā€œcomboā€ blocks. Such as split and merge in a single block, or hpf and lpf in a single block.

This would allow room for more complex signal chains.

Regarding split/merge, I think this is one area the Helix does better as it doesn't take up any blocks at all.
