Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Time effectiveness under pressure :roflmao:
I had a B3K in there which did not help. Instead of adding an EQ I scrolled through the NAM Pedals and changed the Sansamp to a B7K which sounded immediately better.

Ah yeah, the ol' time cruncharoo... I've done some most nearly all of my best work under those circumstances!

At the End it was
Luminal > Harmonic Booster > (Rusty Box) > B7K > Peggy > > Gentle > Noise Surpressor > IR > HPF > LPF
I tried deactivate some of the blocks but it didn´t help. Even deactivated the Low Boost on the Peggy which I usually love.

Crazy... what is the delta between the home / rehearsal reenforcement? Different amps / cabs?

The Darkglass MIDI Footswitch (with five buttons)? Doesn’t it have a five-pin MIDI connector whereas the Anagram has a 3.5mm?
USB-C is how I will connect it… powered via USB-C

This thing is big. Don’t know if I’ll need it, I’ll try to get away with the 3 buttons first.

I'd love the Anagram to drive our community to make more captures! I'd encourage anyone to give it a crack.

I had a crack at recording a NAM of my DCX Bass a couple of weeks ago - (and wait for it) - NAMs of my favourite Tonex captures, since I had to sell my Tonex One to afford the Anagram  The NAMs of my Tonex captures worked out really well! Captured a Human Gear Animato pedal for our band's Starlight cover, and a few GK rigs.

My DCX Bass captures: Origin Effects DCX Bass NAM Profile · TONE3000

The process was straightforward enough for me to figure out in a day or so of fiddling, and I have pretty much zero experience with DAWs. I borrowed a friends audio interface. I didn't have a reamp box. I still think it worked out ok, but I am aware that levels aren't perfect in my captures (I need to boost gain by about 3 or 4 db in Anagram to get it matching the pedal 1:1) - but that's just experience I think.

I found these tutorials super helpful:

Ha, I just discovered your DCX tones and integrated it into my sound yesterday. It's one of the gain stages in this short clip. Thanks for uploading!

This would seem to be the one "weak link in the Anagram? Other devices seem to have " normal" MIDI connections. I don't use MIDI, but I can see where if you're linked to other people/devices and changing patches automatically that MIDI might be a consideration. Is the 3.5 MIDI (I dint; even know you could do that) a negative?

I like the "all-in-oneness" of it, the small size, a tuner without sacrificing a foot switch, and the XLR out (both of which my Stomp doesn't have) but I'm not sure I gain much by going from my Stomp to the Anagram.
After 4 years of HX stomp, I was still tinkering with my presets, adding a pedal (oh 1, 2, or 3 pedal, +a compressor) because it never suited me. I had my sushi box period, then Shift line preamp. Then OOHHH the Ian Allison presets that were supposed to revolutionize the machine... Nop sounded no better than my simple presets, worked with John Willis, the pope of hx stomp on bass. The anagram arrives and after 2 days, I am very happy with the sound. NAM files, there are wonders that make even rotten amps sound good (yesterday I played with a hartke 50 I don't know what, a messy combo, boom it sounded good). It's not a gain between the 2 machines, it's a huge gap. When I switched from the ZOOM B3 to the stomp I saw a small improvement, but it was mainly on the ergonomics, And the amp simulations were much better, more provided of course.. Oh what a joy to no longer see this aging interface under helix. I managed to sell my Stomp for 480 euros. I think that in 6 months, it won't be possible anymore.

Can any of you with an Anagram speak to the qualities of the Hyper Luminal versus the Buss Compressor? The Hyper Luminal appears to be a FET-style design with no threshold control, which makes me think it's trying to cop an 1176 vibe. The Buss Compressor has attack, release, threshold and ratio controls, which make me think it's a VCA-style design like the buss compressor on an SSL console. Based on these assumptions my guess is that the HL has a lot more character, probably a bit of upper midrange presence and possibly a bit of grit compared to the BC which is likely trying to do gain reduction as transparently as possible.

Does this sound right to those of you who've tried both compressors?

@ all Anagram owners: do any of you plan to try creating NAM models of your amps in order to use them with Anagram?

Although I don't have the Anagram (maybe one day), I'm interested in the NAM technology, but there are not many bass models available on Tone3000 currently, mostly guitar amps. But I imagine Anagram could make the NAM technology more popular among our community, and maybe motivate some of us to create our own models (and share them… or not).

I've got a few amps and preamps I'd like to try to capture (I'll be using the models in my DAW mostly), so I thought maybe we could create a thread dedicated to this topic "capturing bass amp models with NAM", in order to share our experience and help each other.

Anyone interested?
If I can figure it out, I'd love to! Got an Ampeg SVT (late 70's), blueline (1969), V9 ('76), a V4, and a SB12 that i wouldn't mind having good models of.

Hi All,
Do the amp models have specific controls related to the original amps? I'm thinking the Ultra switches on the SVT and the Filters and Boost controls on the Gallien Krueger model. Thank you!
Brent
The ultra switches are there on the Peggy, the GK model has a mid contour, but no boost control.

Initial test fit of new board and mocking up some control bits. I would also like to point out how extremely brave I'm being with the empty spot in the top right remaining empty... for now. :D

Really looking forward to MIDI support properly coming online.

cool! I’ve thought about maybe getting a morning star if I ever need more switches
