Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Super noisy, feels like the signal is kinda weak, pretty much unusable as is. I tried putting my C4 after the Anagram and it wouldnt fly in any situation. When my Anagram is connected to my Sol or DC7 it's silent and very robust sounding.

I may have just gotten a dud PS.

I have the same issue with my Anagram PSU which I bought last week. I've emailed support and am waiting for a reply. Horrible ground hum with the supplied PSU which isn't present when I power it via USB or use my CIOKS.
Also received my Anagram this week and have a bad power supply. Noisy to be point of being useless.

Today I bought a new Anagram.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work as it should. I can't press the knobs.
The knobs are too long.
I'm angry and shocked that the best music company for bassists produces such poor equipment.

That's unfortunate. Get in contact with their customer support and they will sort you out. They are very good at taking care of issues like this.

Warning…do not purchase the acrylic cover for the anagram from Acrilicos Pedaleras. There are no instructions included and the hex nuts included in the kit to hold down the cover by screwing onto stomp button threads may permanently stay on the threaded portion of the stomp button thus not being able to remove and if you try to loosen the nut, you may end up spinning the button with the nut…not good.

At a glance it looks similar to the KNK model. The KNK uses magnets to hold it in place according to the product literature. Seems like a better solution than nuts.

Just uploaded my take on a low gain Rusty Box setting to the public presets. Seemed like a glaring omission in the community presets. It's called 'RUSTY BOX: LOW GAIN'.

I've been using the RB as my main, always-on tone for years, and I run it with a Damnation Loop Blender to bring back a touch of cleans. I played around with a bunch of different approaches, A/B'ing my attempts to the actual thing in the Anagram's effects loop. The base of the sound is the Chinchilla (rat) drive at low gain. I tried at first to go overboard and mimic the Bloop's clean blend, but I actually had better luck stripping it down and just using the blend on the Chinchilla itself. I used 2 different EQs after it to get the different points I needed to bring in some of that three dimensional punch alongside the Chinchilla's grit. It's surprisingly touch sensitive like the RB, though it maybe lacks a bit of range compared to the real thing. Still - I tried this at practice through my full rig, and my band mates were convinced.

The RB is a pretty animated, reactive beast. So...fair warning that you might try it and not dig the way I dial mine in - it's tamer than the way Jesus Lizard, Chat Pile, etc. use them. I have a hot Jazz bass with EMGs, fresh steels, and play with fingers 90% of the time. So this may be too bright if you use a pick, but you can always dial back the higher EQ bands on the EQ blocks or use the LPF block to compensate. My RB is set with gain switch on 'Hi, Volume @ 9:00, Treble @ 12:00, Bass @ 2:00ish, Mid at 9:00ish, and Input Gain @ 9:00-10:00. I run the loop blend around 1:00 or so. This ends up letting my Jazz still sound like a Jazz, but it's gritty and clanky and punchy as hell.

I'll probably do a higher gain version eventually, but I'm just trying to dial in all my key band tones during my first week with this thing....

Hi Macieq, Iván from Darkglass here.
Sorry to hear this happened to your unit. This might have occurred during transit, because each unit has to pass a knob response test.

The knob probably slid too far down to pot shaft. Please try lightly pulling the knob up. This should clear the necessary space for it to work properly.

Feel free to reach out to me or to [email protected] if this issue persists or happens again.

Thank you for your reply. I tried what you suggested, but unfortunately it didn’t solve the problem. Either the pot shafts are too short, or the knobs are too long. At the moment, the only way to properly use the Darkglass Anagram is to remove the knobs completely.

Honestly, I’m very surprised and disappointed. I’ve always considered Darkglass to be a top-quality brand, but this unit feels worse than cheap toys from China. I waited several months for this device, and receiving it in such a condition was a shock.

I have already packed the unit and sent it back to the store.
This was a really unpleasant experience, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Hi Ivan, I hope you are going well. I'm experiencing the same issue as Macieq with a new Anagram received today and thankfully have resolved it by removing then lightly pulling the affected master volume button up. Also, compared to the first batch of Anagram (which I also own) there is a difference in quality of the buttons used. Since the original units had metallic buttons installed while the latest build is using plastic buttons that appear to be far less durable. Is it possible for Darkglass Support to provide a full set of replacement buttons to match the original (first batch) specifications? Thanks.

Hi Tino, the exact same knobs were used for both production batches. There are no differences in the materials used. They are all made of aluminum with plastic inserts.
