Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Hello @IvanBassist do you have any thoughts on best approach here?

I’m currently using beginning of chain, but it is coming in super loud.
I dont own an MXR Synth, but i’ve seen a few pedalboards where users have been placing it in the loop.
This approach would allow you to “move it” freely around the signal chain :)

Could be worth a try!

Mine has surprisingly arrived today, in my local store here in Norway! Just picked it up after getting a phone call from a very happy store manager who was equally surprised as I was.

I guess I'll be up late tonight... :bassist:
We’ve been producing non-stop for the past few weeks. Happy to hear you got yours!

This worked brilliantly!
Adding the effects loop allowed me to control the volume of the pedal, worked perfectly. Thank you.

I’ve tried several times to register my Anagram, but it keeps telling me “Whoops, looks like something went wrong”.🤷‍♂️
My email, and name show up in the suite, but it says my email hasn’t been confirmed.
Any ideas?

For those getting the "whoops, something went wrong" message after registering their email, but never getting a confirmation... You need to enter the portal through the hamburger menu link on their website, not the link they provided with the Anagram or Suite.

Try getting the confirmation email through this link instead.
Hope this helps....

After having played with it for some hours at home and bringing it to practice today, I must say I am impressed! I don't miss the Quad Cortex at all, as I can fit the Anagram in my bass bag. Compared to the QC, I find the interface of the Anagram much easier to use and it's a lot quicker to dial in a good bass tone. It sounds VERY good!

I really like the form factor and it's so easy to manage the change between preset/snapshot/stomp mode and assigning everything to what I need. The only niggle I have with the UI on the pedal is that popup eeevery time i want to copy a preset. It slows down the workflow in a very annoying way! A "dont show this again" button on it would be very welcome.

It is nice that the unit is bass-focused so I don't have to scroll through endless guitar things, but the NAM-capability makes it surprisingly good for playing guitar through as well.

The one real negative I have is the Darkglass software on PC/Mac. It's clunky and unintuitive and could need some work. Thankfully the ease of use on the pedal itself makes up for it for me, as I really only have to use the software to import NAM and IR profiles.

Switching over from the QC was a good decision, I think. I really like the Anagram so far.

Thanks for your impressions. I own a QC that I don’t really use, though I do like it. I just don’t have the time to work on it and set up good presets. Maybe I would use an Anagram more? Then again, my priority is good compression, and I understand the Anagram still needs some work in that department.

Mine just arrived last night after being on a wait list (and not being in a hurry, frankly).

I'm in the very initial stages of tinkering/exploring. Curious from the hive-mind. Is the looper basically useless for seamless, Ditto-style loops for everyone else? Seems there's lag time on the start/stop when pressing the buttons, so it's incredibly difficult to get a true seamless, repetitive loop. (Will say up front, I have no issues achieving this on a Ditto or other looper pedals. So I know it's not bad timing on my part...)

Mine doesn’t appear to lag. I’m not a live looping aficionado, but if I give myself a time reference (metronome, click track, etc.) I can create a loop that comes back around without any noticeable gap.
Not sure if lag was the right word, but maybe?

Here's the actual experience I'm having with the anagram looper. If play a simple, repeating 4-bar phrase in time, if you 'punch in' on the Anagram looper right on the '1' (like you would a Ditto, etc.) and then punch out at the end of the phrase, you can literally see on-screen - and hear - that the attack of the first note gets slightly snipped off or missed. It's almost like you have to anticipate that the Anagram takes a split second to engage the looper, but it takes some luck to get a seamless loop, where I feel like it's easy to do every time on other looper I've used.

I got mine mounted and the KnK Shields protector put on.

Running it with a USB powerbank, so far so good.😎👍

Now I just have to learn how to not suck at creating presets.🤣

All the presets I hear on the suite and YouTube sound great, mine not so much.

Hopefully practice makes perfect.

I’ll get to try it with the band for the first time Tuesday night at rehearsal, so far it’s just been practicing alone at home.

I swapped my Stomp XL out for the Anagram on my board and was up and running with the patches I needed with really good tones with very limited efforts. It was an easy adoption process. Level adjustments on the fly as needed have been super easy too. For me, it was a good choice.

I'm blown away by how intuitive the UI is on the Anagram compared to the other stuff I've tried (HX Stomp, Boss GT-1000, etc.) I know there's some preference involved when it comes to UI/UX, but it feels like it's not even close.

I have a slight issue with lag time while creating loops, but the loop feature itself makes it so easy to setup patches. Looping a riff or line and then bouncing through some different blocks, sims, EQ settings, etc. allows you to very quickly dial in some basic, functional patches. I know I'll do some fine tuning once I bring it to band practice for the first few weeks, but I have no qualms about being able to make quick adjustments in the room. Super impressed with just a few hours into this thing.
