Darkglass B3K OR B7K

Hollow man that's a great question I wonder about that as well I had both Finnish versions. I know every pedal isn't the same and I could have had a bad one? But it's a very expensive pedal and I won't risk it again I think I would jump on a Finnish B3K again I hear the U.S version is the same pedal but I like some people don't have anywhere to test one out.

With the B3K, the audio path of the USA version is exactly the same - The only changes I made were adding my soft-touch relay true bypass system and changing the internal mechanical design to be more reliable.

With the B7K, the USA version has a buffered bypass that uses a soft-touch switch, and the DI circuit has been reworked to be quieter and better at driving low impedance loads. The sound of the pedal is still exactly the same as the Finnish model but it's more reliable, the DI is better and the noise levels should be a bit lower.

..you may find that you don't like the Darkglass sound at all.

The sound at :52 (heavy overdrive) on this B3K demo vid is EXACTLY what I want. That is what caused me to get MASSIVE G.A.S.
I hit pretty hard and use a Jazz Bass. I'm pretty sure that I'll get that type of tone as well. The main question is if I really need that EQ section. The DI part is my last concern.

Watching a B7K demo......the low really does make it HUGE and even more devastating compared to when it is in the 'flat' setting........ but I dont want to over do it either because I wont be using overdrive on every song and I do not want there to be a drastic change in tone when I go to clean. I guess the level will affect that too.
Ahh, this is so frustrating.

What is wrong with the EQ on your amp?

The prefect rig shouldn't have oodles of duplication.

THATS the thing. Nothing wrong with the EQ on my GK 700RB II head. And I DO NOT want to have excess EQ'ing.
I guess part of the answer I'm looking for is wether having all of that EQ will be too much.

I feel that I'm getting a bit closer now...getting on the right track here.
The GK EQ is:
60/250/1/7 with voicing filters 20/50/500/7/10

One thing is that the effects run through the bridge pickup only.

I have the $$, it's just a question.. do I need any more than the B3K to get that nasty, devastating overdrive. I wont be recording or using the DI so the EQ on the 7 is the deal. Whether, like topo morto said.."The prefect rig shouldn't have oodles of duplication".....mabye not exact duplication but more like overkill.

I'm learning more about these pedals here than from the demos and even the website. I didn't know there was a low boost in the B3K.....hmmmmm. Or maybe I wasn't paying attention enough while watching some of the demos. I havent watched all of the demos but the ones I have seen go through a wide range of tones without any explanations as the sounds were changed. Thanks everyone. More opinions still welcome because I havent pulled the trigger yet..

OK. I just found another vid where I learned that the "grunt" switch is the bass boost. Things are getting clearer now. I think I am starting to lean back to the B3K.
I have the $$ for either one but since I don't need the DI and the grunt switch is a boost of the low end and the devastating, crushing overdrive is there it's looking better.
I cant wait to add the darkglass tone to my rig. I'm thinking this will add an element to my band's sound that will be like icing on a cake. Yum! Dirty, gritty icing!

Awesome that you're getting a clearer picture of what you need!
The DI on the US B7K is very upgraded by the way!
We did some samples last week and the engineer was raving about how powerful the output was!
Super fat and fully rich signal, if you don't mind me saying ;).

Thanks everyone for your testimonials and input!

Regards!

Doug, on a side note, are there any black T-Shirts with that cool Darkglass spiral design logo on them? I would love to wear one onstage while that pedal is raging away at my next gig...whenever that is going to be.

Hehe we're working on tees and other merch! We're just going through different manufacturers because we want the best quality clothing available!
Will let you know when we have more info about it!

Regards, Doug.

Awesome! It's a cool logo and when people ask what it is, I can promote and rave about it.
BIG logo in white against a black T will work for me.
