Darkglass B3K OR B7K

Well, I can easily say that the B7K makes me sound like a better player (even though I know I havent improved in any aspect)... It's very sensitive, so turn the knobs gently and you'll find your tone. From light distortion to heavy cranking buzz... It's an incredible pedal, very versatile.

I used the B7K last night on a rock cover band gig. I was running it into a crown xls602 power amp, and it sounded perfect. Signal chain was something like this:

Pbass Dlx>FEA optifet>boss oc2>Team awesome fuzz machine>B7K xlr out>power amp>Avatar tb153.

The TAFM into the B7k was the highlight of my night for sure! Nice thick wall of fuzz, but with a level of clarity and articulation that is usually not present when running heavy fuzz/distortion.

I really liked the way my tone sat in the mix last night. It was deep and punchy with the rest of the band going at it, but when the bass was by itself, it revealed a nice fuzzy/crunchy sheen that sounded awesome. I got a lot of compliments from the audience/band/sound guy about it. I agree with the guy who said it kinda makes you sound like a better player!

I don't have any clips right now, but I could probably throw something together. I want to hook them both up to my flip flop pedal to see which order I like best, so maybe I'll just record that test.

With the cover band, I'll probably keep it last, because it's doubling as a preamp. On my main board, I will be using it only as an overdrive so it will be earlier in the chain. Prob in the effects loop of my Wonderlove.

B7K arrived a little while ago. It sounds amazingly good, but I knew that as I used to own the B3K. My complaint is the placement of the switches. I understand there were probably considerations and compromises that went into the design, but it's a pretty poor place for them.
If you keep your knobs anywhere near the 12 O'clock setting on the treble or low mid knobs, you kind of have to move them to get to the switches, then move them back to your settings. While doing this, there is a distinct possibility of moving the other knobs. This could be problematic, depending on one's situation.

Not trying to bash the company or Spencer, but it's something people should consider. Once again, the tone of the pedal is the end game for me, it's sounds killer. Just one little niggle.

That makes sense. It's something I knew was thought of and a decision was made, for better or worse. I actually found it's easier to flip the switch if I use my fingernail, rather than try to shove my fat fingers in between the knobs. It's not as precise, but it works and like I said, the pedal....man oh man. It's so good it's inspirational, LOL!

Well, I got my B3K a couple of days ago and after a few hours with it I can honestly say that it is everything I had hoped it to be. The sound is incredible. Devastating if I want it to be and that is what I heard in those Youtube demos. Just nasty, snarling distortion and the grunt switch really helps with that. I havent used it with my band yet but I'm more than sure when I click it on it's going to make us sound even more powerful. Thanks so much for developing this little box of doom. It is the final piece of my rig that has been under construction for many years. Who would have thought that an overdrive pedal would have been that final piece of the puzzle? Just awesome tones from the B3K.

I want one of the Darkglass T-Shirts (XL) for my main stage shirt.

Hi Doug,

Pedal arrived a day ago, so I'm a happy new owner of B3K" :) Not sure how it happened but it just took 5 days to ship!!! I'm very happy with the sound because it turned to be 100% the same as on demo videos on your site. Thank you guys for letting us have exactly the sound that we want! It is actually the sound which I've had in my head for a long time but couldn't get with the other overdrive pedals...I'm already converting bass-players in Russia to Darkglass products, some of them will place their orders for B3K at yor site very soon:bassist::bassist::bassist:
