Had a chance to take my B7K out for a spin at last nights practice. I set it to a slightly overdriven tone and it sounded so good I just left the sucker on all night. It was really amazing. It tightened up the low end on the Streamliner and really helped punch through.

I'm am really, really tempted to pick up one of these...
How is the 'growl' factor on the B7K? I'm wondering if I could simplify my live rig... can it bring out some additional bark and/or snarl without going full blown OD?

If it helps, this is my current setup for live:
Pedulla Thunderbolt (Audere classic 4-band + Delano SBC 5 HE pickups) --> Carvin BX500/BX1500 --> Effects Loop: Ampeg SVP Pro --> GK2001 RBP --> BBE BMAX-T) --> Berg NV610 = growly and aggressive tone!

Recording:
Same bass --> ISP Beta Bass --> PC = lots of meaty middy growl (less aggression)

Thats pretty much what I had going on last night and generally what I shoot for, tone wise.

My rig G&L L1505--->Darkglass B7K--->GB Streamliner 900--->Genz Benz NX2 212.

Personally I like the B7K over the B3k because of the extra EQ; you can really do a lot with the extra treble/bass/hi and lo mid settings. The drive knob does a great job of adding however much OD you want so you can go from just a little, to a moderate fuzz.

Sounds great! I definitely like lower gain settings for most situations! Just the right amount of tubey break up! (and therefore harmonic excitation).

I've been a little crazy busy in the last couple of days, but I promise a B7K>Tafm flip floppin video is coming soon. I'm gonna probably throw an oxide and a pickle pie b in there, too...

This is completely subjective but when I needed a distortion pedal I didn't look anywhere else. It's the balls.

I was quite excited when I got my B7K today ... but that turned to disappointment - I get nothing but noise from the 1/4" and the XLR when the pedal is engaged (ok, my bass is way in the background). No issues when the effect is turned off - my clean signal goes through... did I miss something with the pedal (I know there's no manual with it)... basically I get an overpowering ground hum as soon as I engage the pedal.

I can hear my bass under the noise... the blend and level controls add to the hum (they have to be nearly off to get the hum to stop), and the grunt swtich; in Fat and Raw mode, it just makes the noise completely overbearing.

I'm really disappointed that a $400 pedal can go out the door without being checked... and now I'll have to pay to send it back and I guess I'll have to pay for shipping to have another one sent to me (I'm hoping I can just get my money back and not have to deal with this).

again, if I missed something with this, please chime in... yes, I am using a working 9-volt adapter (works fine for my Sansamp Programmable BDDI), used several basses, and used the ground lift button - all with the same results: completely unusable.

Turned out to be an issue with the 9-volt adapter - see post #141 for my experience with the pedal (Doug and Spencer were great in helping me out).

Things happen with gear regardless of the price. I never understood why people who have issues with gear immediately come here to complain. Give the manufacturer, or the dealer where you bought it from, a chance to make things right.

Don't speculate that you'll have to spend all this money in shipping and whatnot until you contact the company. Sometimes, depending on the issue, the company can even walk you through a repair if its easy enough. Dark glass is a great company and I don't see them not making this situation right (yep, double negative. I'm betting they'll do right by you). CONTACT THEM

Maybe I'm being a bit misunderstood - don't get me wrong, I'm very upset (disappointed is probably closer to it) about receiving a possibly broken product, but you did see that I was asking anyone here in this thread for some help if I had missed something (this thread is about the Darkglass pedals, so I thought it would be a good start, especially since there is no manual).

As far as bashing or attacking DG, that is not what I meant: I think I know how to use a pedal (no, don't take that as sarcasm), but since there was no manual, I thought I would ask here.

I have contacted the seller and am requesting an RMA; if they send me another pedal, great, or if they offer me a refund I'll be happy with that as well.

I personally test each pedal that ships. Hum issues like this almost always stem from the power supply. If you have another 9v supply, I'd give it a try. This circuit is more sensitive to ripple from an unregulated supply than most.

I have found this as well experimenting with several different polwer supplies regulated/unregulated/isolated or not, etc. and of differing voltages and milliamps. It took awhile for me to dial it all in.

But i have found Spencer and Doug very helpful in any issues that have come up and very quick to respond, as we see here.

When i would use my 1spot and play at insane volumes i would hear an occasional pop. When I tried another i got alot of noise. When i tried the PP2+ it was quiet but I swear it had less "girth". Then I tried this and then that...etc. The thing is very responsive

I have a ton of cool pedals but if i could only bring one it would be my B7k

I had a similar problem with my B7K till i bought a 1-SPOT power supply.
