Darkglass electronics?

The B7K is a great pedal. I have it, a Sansamp bddi, and an m-80. I use the m-80 live, but I find the b7k to be really great for recording. The low end that comes from the b7k sounds better to me than the Sansamp and the m-80.

In one word, YES, they are. I honestly think they are some of THE best pedals out there right now for what they do. Its all relative but to me, they make some of the best stuff around. I do not believe for one second that any of their pedals are "hype". They may be hyped but IMO they are worth every penny and more they sell for. Doug and Spencer make AWESOME products that work great in the bass world!

Heavier stuff may be where the B#Ks excel but the B7K at least is extremely flexible. I used it in a worship context all the time for light grit and tone shaping.

Here is my absolute favorite B7K demo out there, that really shows its flexibility.

I think the B*K gets a name for being a "metal" pedal most the time. While it can get on the "harsh" (in a good way) side a bit, it can be warm too. As stated above by Adam, it is VERY versatile. I dont think its quite fair to label it a "metal" pedal as some like to at times.

I might get some flack for this.. but I did not like the b7k, it was really noisy in recordings (even used by itself, nothing else in the chain) and it was basically a glorified eq pedal for me.. obviously it's a great pedal for a lot of people so YMMV. I REALLY want to try the vintage microtubes, seems like it would suit me better!! And I do think you get what you pay for.

You kidding me, these pedals sound phenomenal. these pedals do provide some killer bass overdrive and distortion sounds. they are a little pricey sure, but they're worth the investment. if you're thinking about purchasing one, by all mean go for it. If I were to purchase a darklass pedal, I would go for either the b3k or the vintage microtubes.
