More info on the pickup placement on this bass please. I like it and am considering doing something similar. They both seem a little closer to the "sweet spot" than usual jazz placement...do tell?

The placement has to do with the pole spacing. The pole spacings on those two pickups are 0.71" and 0.68". They were placed for optimum alignment with the strings. People have commented saying the pickups look too close, but they don't realize that they are single coil pickups and the location of the pole pieces aren't that close in reality. You get quite a distinctive tonal variation panning between the two. That bass sounds absolutely killer and you can slap all day on it.

To give a comparison this bass has a bridge pickup with a 0.75" pole spacing. This bass also has 24 frets and the other one has only 20.

They can, but there's no reason. These are hot pickups as it is, adding an outside boost like an onboard would just be overkill in my eyes, and in those of many others. But many do it anyways.

gotcha, just wonderin since it has the stock soapbars with a OBP1 already in her I"m going to have to check these out and put one in a project bass first
