Hey guys,
I'm the lucky guy who got to work on Darryl's bass (see the other thread, already linked on Pg. 1).
Actually, I switched out the neck for another Bassstar neck that Darryl had, since the first one was delaminating a bit between the core and the fingerboard.
I also put a new Badass bridge on it, since the original was corroded to the point that it could not be adjusted.
In addition to being a monster player, Darryl is a real gentleman and a very nice guy. Actually, I went to school with his kids!
Dr. Know also lives right here in Woodstock.
I used to see him sit in with the local funk bands. Cool.
Also - just to clarify the Modulus "lingo":
-"Woven" texture is the visible, cloth-type appearance
-"KLD" is the newer-style appearance, which looks like big 'flakes' of graphite laid over each other in an apparently random fashion. As I understand it, the term originated in-house at Modulus - someone said it looked like "a thousand ladies dancing", thus K(1,000) L.D.
Cheers,
Martin
