Dave Funk AWOL???

Yikes. This is troubling and surprising to me, as the used TFs I've seen for sale often are advertised as having a recent check up done by Dave. I absolutely love my new-to-me 750, which thankfully had the gold dot upgrade done, but I'd definitely want to send it to Dave for any service.

Looks like I'll hang on to the Magellan 800 as a back up after all.

And he specifically advertises on his website that his amps are designed in a way that they can "be easily serviced anywhere in the world". I wound up having to paraphrase because the website has now changed to a dead link since I posted it earlier this afternoon! It speaks volumes to me that his lead endorser is Jauqo 3 Times (no relation to Jaco).
Jaco3x used to be a regular contributor here on TB, and I’ve met him IRL around Chicago a few times. Wonder what happened to him?

When you get to be our age, we're no longer jerks...we're just eccentric.

Wondering if anyone has had any recent contact with Dave Funk of Thunderfunk amps. I shipped my amp to him six weeks ago and prepaid to have it repaired. I called him about 10 days ago to get the status. He said the issue was merely a bad LED and he would ship the amp the following week, which was last week. I still don't have the amp. I emailed him last week to get a shipping tracking number. No response. Now, he won't answer his phone either. Did the guy die on us or is this just really poor customer service? Anyone out there know how to get ahold of him other than the posted email and phone number?
Judging from his Facebook posts, he has been on vacation—I think in Hawaii. Someplace warm with sand anyway. I’m sure he’ll return before too long!

My 550b has worked great over the years. I spent time with him once and I found him to be a good guy and very smart about his craft.

Being a small business owner and engineer myself ( in my case software, even more scary), I know first-hand how challenging it can be to keep everybody happy all the time, while still trying to keep the lights on. Those amps are hand-built one by one in the USA. Not an easy thing.

For now, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. Of course it's not my amp here.
I hope this works out ok for all concerned...

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Dave and Tfunk amps. I needed a new fan for a 550B once and emailed him to ask which fan I should buy. He replied right away to tell me he had a few laying around and to send him $5 and he’d send me one. Two days later I had it and noticed on the package he spent $7 on shipping.

He’ll always be aces in my book.

I have a 750A that he upgraded to an 800 that I’ll probably never get rid of.

I've had many conversations with Dave over the years and have never had a bad experience or received false information. Hope you get everything sorted out.

They also manage to take a swipe at digital amps in the process.

Not everyone likes digital amps, sheesh. I would happily carry my Thunderfunk or a heavier tube amp (which I have done a lot) and be completely happy with my tone than be so obsessed with weight.

There are too many people making great amps that also are great at customer service I.e. Jim Bergantino and Agedhorse to deal with inferior service these days. I did own a Thunderfunk amp and dug it with no problems but I got old and it was too heavy.
