Hey guys, I was wondering if you could suggest some albums that Dave Holland plays on that are more standard oriented.

    Thanks

There are two Roy Haynes albums - Love Letters and Birds of a Feather. He's only on half of Love Letters, the other half is McBride.

Joe Henderson's So Near So Far is a bunch of tunes associated with Miles. You'll most likely recognize a good chunk of them.

Hank Jones CD "Oracle". Dave Holland and Billy Higgins. Nice recording, Holland sounds great on it. So do the other guys now that I think of it.

Great version of "Moon River" on Bill Frisell/Dave Holland/Elvin Jones. (The rest of the album is great, too, but not standards---maybe see if you can find just the one track as a $0.99 download.)

  5. +1 very nice record. Unfortunately, I think it is out of print. There are at least 2 standards (All the things... and Old Folks) on the Pat Metheny disc with Holland and Roy Haynes. Also, Betty Carter's "Feed the Fire".

That Betty Carter album is a masterpiece - with Geri Allen and Jack deJohnette...
There's a gorgeous 'Ghost of a Chance' on Lovano's 'Trio Fascination', with Holland and Elvin Jones. And Lovano's 'From the Soul' has 'Body and Soul', 'Portrait of Jenny' and 'Cenral Park West' on it - plus the opportunity to hear Dave Holland with Ed Blackwell

Not perhaps what you're thinking of but One's All has a bunch of standards . . . and no-one but Dave Holland!

    + + +

Thanks for the suggestion on Betty Carter's "Feed the Fire."

There's another very nice Hank Jones album — "Lazy Afternoon" with Dave Holland, Keith Copeland, Ken Peplowski.
