David was just recorded on Pavel Nunez' (latin artist from back home) big band where he plays his bass and sings background vocals. The bass is nicely heard in the mix. Some pretty catchy grooves there! Couple of nice closeups at around 3:00.
Funny story from my younger bass player days. The drummer playing there is VERY popular back home. His name is Guy Frometa. When I was taking music lessons with my teacher (Cesar Alma, very popular amongst the local musicians, now retired from classes residing in Tampa, FL) the dude came to visit and I was Cesar's favorite student back then. He used to challenge all the musicians that came to visit while I was there yelling out "come see the guy that's gonna embarrass all of you suckers!" out of his window even before the dudes got out of their cars. Well, this particular day we were jamming and he asked Guy to sit in on drums to jam with me. He started playing all these odd signature grooves and I got completely lost and crossed out in the timing. He just said "good, but still lacking, Cesar". Needless to say what an embarrassing situation that was.
Check out the killer guitar tone! That's the venerable Rafael Payan. Nice seeing old friends doing well!
